The fact remains, that we are going through a Gate that is situated, I think in the Atlantic Ocean. Namely like a giant hole on the surface - so getting there, we need ships. Since swimming might be too hard. Plus, simply flying a plane through there might also be dangerous.

Since we might end up coming out, underwater or somewhere above a mountain. Or perhaps even, enter a world where air might not have the same properties we are used to.
