Yes shadow blade can be killed by the other greater being a or another powerful NPC but only severnus could send fear into him like this.

He didn't care what he reported to grey or the others he would stay himself that would never change. When he said to nod his head shadow did so. He didn't plan on killing his brother either but when a blade is pointed at him the proper response is to warn them against it that's all he did.
