I feel otherwise. Choosing to rebel against a system that is stifling a part of her as natural as breathing would be a giant slap in the face every single time a patient is lost because of restrictions to her person.
Over time that could absolutely break her willingness to participate from within a cage.

Thats probably the most sane reasoning to be a villain you can have.
