[indent] Toby was born in a comic book. He wishes he was kidding, but there exists a picture of a newborn Toby wrapped in a comic book because his mother had him in a car and the closest thing to them was a comic book. It was Action Comics Issue #852. Ever since then, he was practically raised on them. Starting off with stuff like Archie, and then eventually moving onto big boys like X-Men or The Coalition. He was often teased for reading comic books on an hourly basis. He'd bring stacks of them in his backpack. Sometimes kids were jerks and took it from him. Nothing he could do about it. 

In the seventh grade, he discovered he was gay after he kissed a girl and he didn't really like it. His parents didn't like it so much either. As a matter of fact, his mother fainted when she found out her son was homosexual. But at the same time, they weren't really [i]that[/i] surprised. His parents struggle with accepting the fact that he's gay, but as long as he's happy, they're happy. 

Then came Marshall Radley. It was a good relationship, and the first substantial one of Toby's relatively short life. He was happy, up until things turned south and the relationship turned sour. The inevitable break up was clean, but it didn't mean Toby wasn't in shambles. He is still getting over it to this day, being stuck on the "anger" stage of grief.
