[@CollectorOfMyst] well I mean reality seems warped there, so it's a possible explanation (though not the right one, I'm sure).  I personally like the idea of it being a massive magic bomb that just...KOs everyone in the area.  Maybe with a side of hallucinations/reality warping for a little bit.
