With that done, it was time to go check on her students. She wanted to make sure they were alright. Mako headed up the stairs, and headed down the corridor. Upon reaching the door to enter the stairwell, Mr. Sparks took a minute to collect himself before making his way down the stairs. He made it back to the corridor that everyone was on and turned towards Kaida’s room, Just behind a woman who had walked up the stairs. Instantly he smelt the perfume coming off her as she walked, a hint of lavender and fruit. He remembered that smell, from what if felt like a lifetime ago. He looked forward to see everyone still in the hallway, now including a black mass standing there. Slightly surprised at the quirk before him, no one seemed to be frightened by it, so it was possible they knew this blob. He moved slightly more quickly to get to Kaida’s room, Softly saying to the woman as he passed by close to her, ”Pardon me, miss.” As he turned to look at her with a polite swave smile. There was a moment of hesitation as he recognized her face, she was hard to forget. Mako nodded, smiling, and stepped to the side. She was about to reply with some polite courtesy, but she saw that he was staring at her as if he remembered her, so she quickly racked her brain trying to think of where she’d seen him before. He definitely looked familiar. Then it hit her, and her golden eyes opened. As they did, it became obvious that this was the same woman he was thinking of. Her hair was much longer than shoulder length now, and graying at the ends, and her smile was more polite and less foxish, but those eyes were unmistakably Akane Mako’s. ”You!” she gasped, surprised. He stopped completely in front of her now. His own gold eyes warm with a fond memory as he looked into Akane Mako’s own. His smile turned into a more genuine one. While her hair and smile had changed. Her beauty hadn’t. He took a step back, as if the pure realization of who she was knocked him back. When she gasped, recognizing him his smile, somehow even grew more. ”You!” He copied and added, ”You look even more beautiful than I remember, Miss Mako.” Far from the young lady with a cool facade but who blushed easily at the slightest flattery, Ms. Mako responded to this with genuine smile. It seems she had improved her composure greatly after all these years. Though, a glint shone in her eyes and a little of the foxiness came back into her smile. If he wanted to play, let us play! ”You flatter me! Though, I must say, the years have been kind to you also.”
The alarms could be heard for whole streets around. It was a quiet day, and there was no other noise to mask the piercing wail. A private depository for jewellery was in chaos, not helped by the senior staff, who were examining a hole in the wall, outlined by melted brick, or by the absence of the guards, who were currently chasing the perpetrator. A figure in a black hooded jacket was sprinting down a market street not too far away from the alley that led from the hit building. Over her shoulder was a duffel bag filled to the brim with stolen jewelry. The guards, while not so close as to catch her, were staying close enough that she couldn’t lose their line of sight. Despite this, she was smiling. It was during moments like these where she really felt alive. The adrenaline, the danger, the emotional high of a hard job pulled off. Well, not quite yet. If she didn’t shake them soon, she’d hit the more populous areas. Then she might actually be in trouble! A young man in a suit and tie was walking through the market browsing the wares when he heard alarms going off. He lifted his head with a raised eyebrow. Wondering who would pull a heist in the middle of the day. It was bold, crazy… and well… intriguing. He moved closer to the sound when he saw a hooded figure sprinting towards him, with guards following the figure. Smiling he moved just enough to get in the perps way, but not enough for them to think he was trying to stop them. He suddenly noticed the feminine figure, and decided to...help. He glanced to his side and touched a metal railing casually, an arch of electricity jumped from his hand so slightly that if you would only see it if you were looking for it. The electricity traveled down the railing to a booth that the girl just past, the open arc suddenly spreading to all the electronics and causing mini explosions that caused everyone nearby to suddenly back up and freak out, blocking the path and sight the guards had. He would then reach out and grab the girl by the waist, her momentum spinning them around once. But she would notice that his grip was iron tight, but not so that she was hurt. She would also see a glint of a badge on his hip, and gun in under his suit strapped to his left chest. Seeing these things, and immediately taking him to be a cop, Mako’s smile disappeared, and she tried to break free, but his grip was too tight. Not seeing a great many options, she dropped the duffel back on the pavement and quickly tore off her hooded jacket, throwing it over the duffel bag to cover it. This act revealed that she was a very pretty woman in her late teens or early twenties, with jet-black shoulder length hair and fiery golden eyes. She was wearing a loose navy vest, jeans and white running shoes. She raised her eyebrow as if to say ‘You got a problem with this’? As she was doing this, the guards were shoving their way through, as soon as she covered the bag he reached out with his foot and snagged it, sliding it behind him and under a covered table. All the while looking back at the beautiful woman in front of him with a swave smile. Despite her defiant look at him. Pulling her closer to him he looked and over her head at the guards who were running towards them. He waved his hand to them, getting their attention. “Over here!” But as the guards came up on them. “The perp ran that way.” He said while jerking his finger over his shoulder. ”Son of a bitch ran into my wife! I’ll have units try to cut him off through that alley.” He said while pulling up his phone from his pocket. When she saw that this stranger helped her to hide her stolen goods, she knew that he was helping her, and played along. She stopped resisting, and instead wrapped her arms around his waist so that they looked like a real couple. When he called the guards over, there was a split-second of panic in her eyes before her brain caught up and she realised that this was actually a good move. Now, what to pretend to be...the man answered that, too, by calling her his wife. She was hardly dressed to pass for a sweetheart or a lady, though, so she went down the firecracker route. Turning away from her saviour to face the guards with an affronted, pissed off look and shook her fist, keeping her other hand firmly around the stranger’s waist. ”Oi! Catch that punk and lock them up! You hear? That bastard could have injured me!” The guards nodded as the continue to chase the now phantom thief. He waited a moment, looking over his shoulder his phone to his ear...but said nothing. Once out of site he put down the phone and glanced at the woman. With a mischievous smirk and playfulness in his eyes. ”So, not only does the lady have the looks to knock out a crowd. But she has the smarts as well? Thats a dangerous combo…” While his grip didn’t leave her waist as he stood close to her, she would notice it wasn’t holding her...too tightly anymore. The woman relaxed, but that didn’t last long as she actually paid attention to the stranger and how they were holding each other. He was very attractive, sure, but there was a ruggish, rouge-ish playful quality about him, and dammit, that was her type! And on top of that, he then complimented her in a very suave manner! The woman blushed, and let go of his waist, stepping back and smiling a rather foxlike smile. ”I’m a dangerous woman. Tell me, how should I address my knight in shining armor?” she tried to answer back but the blush really took away from the cool, sassy vibe she was going for. He reluctantly let go of her as she took a step back. That smile was so cute. The air of mysteriousness that surrounded her and her playful fox like expresion. She was so intriguing, and gorgeous, and a bad girl! She asked for his name in a roundabout way. He smiled and placed a hand on his chest while he bowed slightly. He didn’t want to lie to her, but at this moment he couldn’t give his real name.”You can call me Luc Sparks. It is a pleasure to meet you m’lady...” He paused to make it clear that he was wondering what to call her as well. It was now she could hear the foreign accent, He took her hand in his and kissed it. This, she was not mentally prepared for, and blushed an even redder shade, and stammered for a few seconds, before clearing her throat to restore some sense of control and composition to herself. She then smiled up at the handsome stranger. ”The pleasure is all mine. My name’s Mako Akane, but please call me Akane.” “A beautiful name.” He said as he bent down and picked up her bag of loot, holding as if he were going to give it back but he stopped. “Now about my payment. Partners in crime get 50/50 shares no?” He said with a mischievous grin, but shred of innocence in his eyes as if he was seriously wondering. The foxish grin returned in full along with her confident aura, as she gestured to the bag. ”I’ll gladly let you take half. More than half, even, if you take the bag off my hands. They’re looking for a suspect of small frame with a black jacket, hood, and a duffel bag. Take that away and we’re both clear. Besides, I steal for the sport, not the money or possessions.” He cocked his head to the side, surprised at her answer. There was never anyone he met who did it for the sport. He shrugged and dropped the bag next to the trash can near them. “Really?” He said with an honest impressed look on his face. “Well that’s a shame, because I have no need for the money as well. I was going to ask for my payment to be for the chance to take you out to dinner. Tonight.” Her reaction to this was surprise, and visible conflict showed on her face, and she sighed. She smiled at him, but it seemed sadder this time. ”Oh, sorry for messing up your pickup line, and also sorry for turning down the offer. I...let’s say i’m putting my career first. I do really want to go out to dinner with you. You’re really attractive, charming, and to be frank, my type. But I just can’t. I’m sorry. I...probably didn’t help just now, did I?” He lowered his head slightly in respect to her wishes. Sighing, “ Nope not really…” he said with a chuckle despite the loss. He placed his hands on his hips and lifted his head, pushing Through it he gave her another smile. “Well if you ever change your mind… check your back pocket.” He said with a wink, as he turned around and wave casually without looking back. “Good luck with your Career. Madame.” ”Yes, you too,” she replied weekly, before picking to the duffel bag and walking away. When she was out of sight, she facepalmed, rested her head against a wall and groaned pathetically. After a while of this self-pity party, she checked her back pocket. On it was a number, and the stranger’s first name, which she read aloud to herself;
”Jean-Luc. Yare yare, it’s a small world,” Ms. Mako mused with a glint in her eye, before the smile dimmed. ”But what are you doing here?” He nodded with a smile, as she remembered his name. He pointed to the room Kaida was in with a thumb jerk over his shoulder. “I was in town on business, and I saw Ms. Beaumont on the tv attacked. I rushed over here to make sure she was being taken care of properly… I’ve known her since she was a baby. With her keeping her quirk a secret, I knew the doctors wouldn’t know how to take care of her.” He was about to ask why she was here when he remembered she worked at komei as the secretary. Her sudden change in careers made huge news for a bit. But to be honest he kept an eye out for her ever since that day. “I’m assuming you’re here for the students as well?” Mako nodded, as if suddenly remembering the entire reason she was here, and headed for Kaida’s room, talking to Mr. Sparks as she walked. Her whole demeanor had changed, and she was all business for the time being. ”That’s right. Well, officially, I just came to drop off their records but I personally want to make sure they’re ok. So, you saw them on TV? What exactly happened?” He turned and followed her on her right side. When she asked what happened, he hesitated for a moment looking to the principle and skyknights they were getting closer to. But he felt he could be a little more honest with her. “They were attacked by the shadow clan. Their goal was killing the dark haired boy and take one of the other girls and Kaida back with them. I don’t know what happened and how they failed in their mission. But I’m glad.” He looked at her, and added. “They won’t be coming for them after this for a while.” Mako shook her head. ”This is going to be a PR nightmare. Possibly even U. A. levels. Several of our students have been targeted and attacked. I can’t blame the students if they want to withdraw after this, after getting into real Hero combat. Who the hell attacks children?” She growled through gritted teeth, her fists clenched tight, as they approached the Principle and the superhero group known as the Sky Knights. They were a little young to have faced Madame Obsidian in her prime, but judging from their accolades, they’d have given her a run for her money. She had nothing but respect for the group. Especially now, after they’d helped save the lives of multiple students. She smiled her trademark saccharine smile with eyes closed as she approached. They’d know who she was; the ‘reformed’ former Supervillain who was the current secretary at Komei Academy. ”Hello, there. I don’t know if the Principle has already said this but thank you for saving those kids’ lives!” ”psychopaths…” he said simply to her question. When they came to the others and she thanked them for saving the students. He looked to Aurelia and nodded once again. “It was a good thing you were there. How is that dark haired boy who lost his arm doing?” [@Conscripts][@pkken]
