It was her twentieth time reading it, so her focus was on other matters as she flipped through the pages. This year’s Fall Festival was thankfully not cancelled due to the multiple homicides in Ruxbury. All the grieving and fear that had been surrounding the town for weeks now was lightened by the upcoming festivities. There were rumors that the Mayor and Chief of police were thinking of enacting a nightly curfew for all the teenagers in town. From the bits of gossip and news she had gathered, it seemed that all the murders were the work of someone supernatural. The culprit was most likely a Vampire or Demon. There was a small chance though it was actually a plain old human. Alice remembered back in 1946 when it was confirmed by guardians that Hitler was in fact a human. And in the late 1960s Charles Manson was confirmed to be a Mezmer Demon. Being alive for almost a hundred years Alice learned that all people, no matter what race were capable of good or evil. Even herself… Her store was full of items from different decades. Most of her walk in customers came looking for engagement rings, and the occasional Tiffany lamp. It was brightly lit inside from the twenty or so chandeliers and light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. There was a whole wall of antique clocks, and paintings. There were cases full of jewelry, Fabergé eggs, snuff boxes, pocket watches, empty perfume bottles, rare coins and trinkets. All of the furniture in the store was antique, even the tables and shelves used for displays. The antique weapons were on display on the wall behind her, and the place was full of vases, candelabras, and oriental rugs. Classical music played quietly in the background, and the whole place smelled of jasmine thanks to the dozen or so candles lit around the front of the store. The light chime from the bell hanging on the front door briefly surprised her. She always could hear someone coming into the store before they even opened it, so this was new. She looked up from her book, and placed it on the counter in front of her. The kid that came in seemed to already be dressed and ready for the costume party at the shack tonight. His steps were masterfully quite, no wonder she hadn’t heard him coming. The older gentleman on the other hand, was heavy footed and out of breath from running, so he was no surprise. Alice didn’t get many costumers under the age of thirty. The antique business had its niche, and teenage boys were not it. “Good Morning gentlemen. Are we looking for anything in particular today?” she asked as she stood up to greet them, and smiled. She caught the old man calling the boy Valon, but the idea that the teenager could be thee Valon didn't even cross her mind.
