Personality
Neeza follows a philosophy that resembles a mix between Zen and Nihilism. She sees desires as hedonism and seeks to cleanse herself of what makes her human and weak. She heard of the Abyss and hopes that by plumbing it's depths, she can be reborn transcendent and transhuman; to either find personal enlightenment, or to return as a prophet and avatar that will lead humanity out of its own filth. She behaves towards what she aspires to be: cold, emotionless, and far, far above the desires that she believes makes humans weak. Deeply philosophical and judgmental, she can come off as arrogant, belittling others when they show emotion. She demonstrates strong physical restraint and physical discipline, capable of enduring hunger, thirst, and a surprising amount of pain, as well as push her body to extreme physical feats thanks to the religious training she has been subjected to. She is at once both sheltered and jaded and is a very difficult person to interact with due either to prejudice or awkwardness. She can come off as cold, condescending, and ethereal. She shares little in common with normal folk and is a foreigner in a strange land.
Background
A beggar orphan living in the flooded muck of the great river valley of her homeland, Neeza lived a harsh life surrounded by disease, decay, and death. In desperation, she joined a particularly ascetic monastery that sought spiritual upliftment through physical torment. However, some king whose queen could not bear him any young, sought the advice of a soothsayer, who pointed to them that their hope lay in adopting a child. That child, according the the soothsayer, was none other than Neeza, who was promptly whisked away to live in a lavish palace. Having seen both sides of the world, Neeza sought an explanation for inequality and suffering. With scholars now at her beck and call, she delved into the various religions of her land. Nothing satisfied her, until one geography teacher explained to her the Great Emptiness that was found on a faraway island. Seeking the soothsayer who plucked her out of the monastery, he told her that she would bring enlightenment to these dark and troubled times. So she set out to Orth on a holy pilgrimage, hearing about the Abyss that changed people, and the artifacts that made people 'more than human'. She settled down among an orphanage, pledging her service in exchange for training. As a former orphan herself, she feels at home among the destitute. Talents Wise beyond her years, and having access to many books and people of learning in a land of many faiths, Neeza is deeply philosophical. Her body is also surprisingly disciplined thanks to her ascetic training, and she has the ability to will her body to endure more than normal through mind-over-matter mantras. Likes Despite being an ascetic and finding desires as a weakness, Neeza has a soft spot for spicy foods. She admires strength and mental conviction above all else and approves of those who can put aside their emotions and cravings for their goals. Dislikes Neeza hates emotions and desires, and she hates herself for having them. She dislikes those who let their whims control them. She also has a slight complex about her size and will dislike anyone who makes fun of her for it.
Theme
