Although he is very willing to try new things, and explore untested waters he can be very systematic and cautious in all that he does. Sam likes understanding material down to the minute detail. As such he is an avid reader, and has acquired a substantive knowledge about a great many subjects. Especially when it comes to the outdoors. Sammy loves being outside, whether he is camping, fishing, hiking, and boating; all are favorite pastimes of his. He holds grand aspirations of one day becoming a Park Ranger, or even a Game Warden. His fascination with the great outdoors is held back ever so slightly by a pair of overprotective parents, coupled with Sam being a mild asthmatic. All of which leads to him having less than the usual amount of freedom granted to a kid his age. Perhaps that’s for the better however, as Sammy can be somewhat socially awkward, and relies entirely upon his family and a small group of tight knit friends to keep from being a loner. OTHER: Sam probably had the most difficult time convincing his family to allow him to go on the friends’ only camping trip. However after enough straight A’s in school, several promises to stay safe and take his inhaler, and an agreement to bring along the family dog Jake, a well behaved seven year old chocolate lab, Sammy was finally granted permission. Being the only child of his mother and father Sam is rarely let out of his parent’s sight, or the sight of a trusted supervisor. However with his recent birthday, and a display of responsibility, his parents are finally loosening their grip.
