Well, ears were the wrong term for it; it felt like your ears, but it was really the copper in your brain. A voice was echoing through you, it spoke of the end of the city. Far above you it was known by many that the city never ended, but rumors had long circulated of the tower that reached above it all. Images were transmitted into your brain through the receivers behind your eyes: a prize beyond your wildest dreams, a promise of godlike power, or a cure to all illnesses. Your greatest desire, at the end of the city. ___________________________________________________________ Welcome to the City of Dark Rain, the never ending megapolis. You are one of many who has received a signal from the end of the city. As the rain pounds down against your cheap glass windows, you must now ponder what you desire and if it is worth finding. This is an RP focused around individual characters and their exploration of an infinite city. I will act as a GM and provide obstacles/updates for each character or group as they wander the city in search of the signal. Combat is a focus of the story but not the only one and only if it is something two characters would organically engage in. I want to see different pairings of characters and interpersonal relations leading to different outcomes. I want mystique, romance, noire, and drama with an edge of action and slice of life in the city. There will be elements of a battle royale at play, with a combat system focusing on clever writing and environmental awareness. The signal itself has come with coordinates and, as such, each player will be expected to be on the path of finding the unending treasures at the "end of the city". This means players will be routed into eachother frequently and expected to speak, ally, or combat. There is no real limit as to what you can play and what your end goal is here. Players are encouraged to diversify their goals, ranging anywhere from a doctor hoping to cure disease to an android girl wanting to cause the end times. Fighting is allowed and encouraged. This is an exodus to the furthest reaches of a technological wonder and the winner takes all.
This is the world of rain and concrete. Asian style buildings and street signs dominate every corner as an endless rain pours forever. The city itself is said to have long ago been a blue planet of oceans and landmass, but such a thing has passed ages ago. They say that it was an attempt to have machinery build cities without the needs of workers, they say some old world nation named "China" created it. Well, they sure as hell couldn't stop it. They say that at the core of the city is a massive geothermal power generator. Supposedly, it used to be the core of the Earth. They claim that the water of the oceans is cycled endlessly into it, rising again as steam through turbines, and falling again as this endless rain and fog. Either way, the free electricity in this lawless city has made being a cyborg or android much easier. This is a city of powerful corporations and smaller, more localized organizations and syndicates. Mercenaries, thiefs, doctors, scrappers, junkers, and mechanics are popular and lucrative people in this land of petty squabbles and never ending concrete. Any backstory is acceptable if you can pitch it right. Speak with me personally on the thread or through PM with your ideas and I will implement it into the setting! It is important for players to do this so that they can aid in the worldbuilding and have any organizations, characters, technology, etc added into the story and world as plot hooks and elements.

Humans: The absolute baseline, humans are not dependent on electricity nor do they require parts of repairs. Humans in this setting would be very much underpowered for an excursion into the hostile unknown sectors. Humans, however, have the option of being augmented at any point during the story. They are more or less all-rounders but do not get special skills unless you can somehow pitch magic to me in a way I like. Meaty fleshbags are best reserved for underdog characters. Considering that this story starts based on a signal being received by androids/cyborgs, justification for why a human is journeying could be fascinating. Cyborgs: Augmented humans full of mechanical bits and bobs. These can range from cognitive implants to jet boots and underarm blades. The majority of people journeying to find the end of the city will naturally be augmented individuals. I want players to be clever with what they come up with for their augmentations/character traits and abilities. Very little is unrestricted if you put effort into your reason for why the character has it. Androids require electricity to function and, if damaged, may have issues finding replacement parts. This holds doubly true for the far ends of the city in which there will be no vendors and even moreso if your character uses unusual augments. Androids/Robots: Robotic workers/servants of man, they carry many of the advantages of cyborgs with less restriction for realism as their frames are flexible. There is no expectation to play as a humanoid robot, anything goes if you can justify it (though cute android girls are always great to see). Androids are stronger, faster, and generally better at dealing with machines than cyborgs or fleshie humans but are less physically accurate, harder to repair in the field, and more frail and prone to glitches if damaged. A robot character could be anything from a remote controlled soldier sent by a company, to a rogue damaged gynoid, to a mecha driven by a human character. Anything goes if you can justify it.
More music for character creation/writing fun. Please show interest here if you wish to see this grow into a thread, I am new to the site so I am actually uncertain if this is the right place to post this (though not new to RP by any stretch). We will be accepting somewhere around six to ten characters, though the story will be very NPC heavy due to its nature. Character death will be a possibility, and if your character dies having a second one ready to roll is a good idea. Any combat will be done post by post with me, as GM, deciding what happens next depending on character actions. This alleviates complications involved with dice rolling or autohitting. Following player posts I will create an update documenting what happened between each player as well as their current statuses and location. As of now we are still accepting characters up to an arbitrary limit. Please post your characters in this thread using the template below.
Name: Sex: Age: Race: Appearance: Abilities: Weaponry and equipment: Backstory and goals:
