Name: Girard Smark Sex: Male Age: 29 Race: Human Appearance: Far from intimidating, Girard is a small, slight figure. Despite this, he still holds himself imperiously, with impeccable posture and precise movements. His speech is curt and clipped, with a fairly detectable upper crust accent. His dress also reflects his mannerisms, as his clothes noticeably expensive. They seem to have seen better days. Girard has olive skin, and dark green eyes. His head his shaved, and he keeps an immaculately trimmed goatee. Personality: Girard is a quiet, reserved man. He lacks finer social skills, far more concerned with his personal work. He does tend to have a soft spot for machinery, tending to personify anything he works on. From farming equipment to social androids, he mutters and chats with the things, opening up to the machines. Abilities: Girard is physically fit, if a bit on the weaker side. He is an expert roboticist, however, and can work wonders with machinery. Weaponry and equipment: -Combat drone: A small, two legged robot, with a simple action arm ending in an electric zapper. -Robotics kit: A toolbelt and bag, containing welding torches, fuel, spare parts, hand tools, and anything else a roboticist would need to make on-the-fly repairs and upgrades. Backstory and goals: Life was not always so dour as a one room apartment and a used robotics shop for Girard Smark. He was once the oldest of three sons to a powerful and successful businessman. Girard, however, did not take to his family's business like his younger brothers did, and instead sequestered himself away to study his true passion, robotics. With a head for mechanics and programming, Girard took to his personal studies without hesitation, and quickly excelled. With all his focus on personal projects, Girard failed to develop the negotiation skills and particular ruthlessness necessary for the business world. This would be his downfall. Business, like many matters in the City of Dark Rain, is dangerous. More dangerous than it would seem. When a hostile takeover fell through, Girard's father met his end quite violently, shot dead along with his colleagues by corporate assassins. Responsibility for the corporation fell to Girard, but he was too far gone into his robotics to care, and he quickly handed control over to his younger brothers. Once in power, they wasted no time squabbling and fighting over full control, and with only supplemental interference from competitors, the corporation imploded. The Smark family was ruined. Now living in squalor, Girard's brothers and mother blame him for their downfall, and he has been left on his own. He spent several years on his own, managing to turn his robotics skill into enough work to keep himself fed. When the transmission came, Girard snatched at it, desperate for a chance to fix his wrongdoings, free his family from debt, and restore them to the life they knew. To make everything go back to how it was.
There it is. Not perfect, but it's mine.
