[@Dnafein] from how it was explained in TLJ they weren't actually tracking rather, it was extremely accurate predictions. 

Also hyperspace trackers do exist, but it's rare tech as the Empire had it just in prototype phase and I guess it was too expensive as it never took off. Instead SW relies on the older style of tracker, that activates when a ship drops out of hyperspace.
