Welcome to the Sprawl
There's a little thing called the multi-verse. It's supposed to be everything, ever. All reality, time, possibilities, and consequences that ever happened or could happen. Even when you're on another planet, in a plane of existence, or even in a pocket dimension completely sealed off from everything else. Guess what, you're not cause in another universe, you share that dimension with an infinite number of that dimensions, and you can guarantee there is a few dozen or hundred where that dimension is attached to something else. Walla, the way in. Oh sure, its "impossible" to go from one dimension to the other, but doesn't that sound a bit closed minded? Have you even tried? Don't worry, something is going to try for you. This is where it gets even weirder. The space between the universes doesn't have to follow silly little things like physics, or laws, or reality. Its almost a realm of dreams. Anything can, does, will, and has happened, sometimes all at once. Most of the time, it does its things, utter and complete chaos without end, but sometimes it follows the rules of a particularly unique individual. Sometimes that individual has the will to make something of this strange place, and fill it with things they want to see. Lets say, they wanted to make a gigantic growing city, lets say they want to fill it with strange wonderous and dangerous things, and finally lets say that it wants friends. Who they want gets no say in the matter. Well they get one. A child or teen will see something weird. Off. Strange. Maybe mystifying. What it is changes from person to person. That doesn't matter. Did you want to get a closer look? Did you touch it? You must have. Cause something pulled you into the City, the Sprawl. You might look different when you wake up in a weird room. You might have some knowledge of something you didn't know before, or can do something you've only ever dreamed of. You might also have a number written, tattooed, stitched, or just generally attached to the back of your hand. What you will discover soon enough is that someone else just like you has your number. You're a team. You're playing a game. All you have to do is find the finish line. And survive of course.
Theme wise, I'm going for something between Limbo, Kingdom Hearts, the World Ends with you, and Soul Eater. So plucky adventure romp with lovable laughable characters where some deep twisted stuff can happen.
