Whether it affects her work in the field however, is still in debate. Ideally, there would have been more rigorous psych testing, if there had been time, but the events at Bellagio Hotel have left us with no other option than to put her into service, but we will be watching her carefully. When not training or in active service, she can often be found reading, and humming La Vie En Rose, the song she was singing as part of a mission to end the reign of the mob boss who had captured her and many other girls for [REDACTED]. The song seems to be a coping mechanism with the effects of the past, as, apart from the required psych testing and therapy, she has never had professional help to cope with the events of her childhood. She is often friendly with other operatives, though does keep her distance. It is suspected that she attributes the operatives with the team who performed Operation: Songbird and freed her from her slavery. She states that the distance she keeps is "a professional formality" but we believe that she has some inset trust issues due to her never truly having parents. Perhaps her closest relationship is with Liu Tze Long, our Strategist in Defense (Operator Alias: Lesion), and it is most probable that her attachment issues are negated by their similarly 'tragic' past, and the fact that they share many personality traits. Lesion states that Ella is "an excellent operative", and then he tentatively adds, "despite what she's been through". It has been noted that Ella appears to despise pity, often becoming physically violent if people seem to patronise or pity her, this is an issue which requires immediate attention, but for now, the team working with her will be notified of this issue. Ella has taken interest in learning many other languages, already knowing Mandarin, Cantonese, English and French, she is constantly seen improving her skills in as many as three different languages at any time. In addition to this, she is a voracious reader, often bringing books on missions with her (to her dismay, often the books are unreadable by the end of the mission). When in the field, while it is noted she is focused on the mission, she appears to enjoy using her 'Eavesdroppers' and 'Songbirds' to toy with the enemy. It is often a sound strategy, as they become confused and scattered, easily picked off as they "search for phantoms" says Ella`. Relationships Siu 'Ying' Mei Lin Ella never had much respect for Siu, as she believed that Siu had the easy way in life, in a comfortable life with the world as her oyster. She did admit that she was talented and skills, but believes those talents were bought rather than learned. She still wishes very much to find out the status of such a talented operator, and would be relieved to get her back alive, and back into active service ASAP. Liu 'Lesion' Tze Long Once learning of Liu's history, Ella felt a certain kinship for him, which still exists to this very day. Seeing him as a brotherly figure, they often trained together, whenever the occasion suited. She was relieved to hear that he was safe and sound after the mission, and it was that moment, that she was determined to exceed any expectations made of her, and become a fully-functioning member of Team Rainbow.
Stance in Combat Defender > Attacker: While defending, Ella has time to set up her Songbirds and Eavesdroppers, getting a high level of coverage, and allowing for an even more disorienting experience for her enemies. The one upside of the Songbirds when attacking is that movement tends to be much more crucial, so the distractions can sometimes be used to greater effect. Operator Equipment SIG Sauer SIG516 - Primary SIX12 Shotgun - Primary LFP586 Handgun - Secondary (This Smith and Wesson revolver was the prized possession of the mob boss who had kidnapped Ella when she was younger, after his death, it was gifted to her by the unit who had rescued her. She keeps it as a reminder of what she fights for. It is highly customised, but only aesthetically, and functions as any other of the same make would.) Smoke Grenade - Attacking Equipment Claymore - Attacking Equipment Bulletproof Camera - Defending Equipment Nitro Cell - Defending Equipment Operator Ability Ella's ability can be broken down into two separate parts, Eavesdroppers, and Songbirds. Eavesdroppers (Adhesive Voice-recognition Microphone Arrays (AVMAs)) - Extremely thin, nigh invisible pads with a diameter of approximately 100 mm and a width of less than 1 mm. On one side of the pad is a set of microphones, all linked together to give a fairly accurate 3D recording of the area it is places in. These microphones are hooked up to a small computer chip, which is used to filter out all sounds bar the human voice, and wirelessly transmit it to Ella's phone. The other side is an adhesive pad, and due to the lightweight nature of the device, it can be attached to walls and even ceilings. Ella carries 10 of these into every mission. Songbirds (Wirelessly Synced Microphones (WSMs)) - The Songbirds are small, spherical speakers, with a diameter of approximately 1 cm. On the back of each speaker is a carbon steel, diamond tipped pin, able to pierce most materials and keep the speaker in place. Each of the speakers wirelessly link to one another, and to Ella's phone, allowing them to seamlessly continue sound from one speaker to the other. These are used to mimic real, 3d sounds, such as footsteps, gunshots, breakages, and, if the Eavesdroppers are used, even the enemy's own callouts. Ella controls the sounds they produce and when they produce it. Ella uses a tool not dissimilar to a nail gun to quickly plant these devices into walls and pieces of furniture.
Biography Ella was born into the lower class of Hong Kong, living in slums and barely make end's meat. Her parents cared little for her, and solely used her as a source of income. She worked dangerous jobs, as those were the only ones not taken by other, more fortunate folks. She often got cuts, scratches, and infections, but somehow, never succumbed to any injury, and kept on kicking. For a period of time, at the age of 8, it seemed as if Ella wouldn't make it, and her parents abandoned her, not wanting to be able to be blamed for the death of a child. But, against all odds, she pulled through. Life from then on was even worse than it had been before, as her parents had arranged all the jobs that she'd previously received, now she had to find them on her own. She managed to scrape some semblance of an existence for the next six years, until she was picked up by a ruthless gang, who's members commented on her "pretty eyes" and "nice long hair". She was over the moon, these were the first people who had ever shown her any kindness, but she soon learned that this was not kindness, it was greed and lust. They took her to their mob boss, a horrible, stinking man with as much charisma as the dumps she used to sift through. He used her for many unspeakable things, while training her in martial arts, firearms, and interrogation, and getting her to sing, old classics from the west in addition to traditional songs, all saying it was "to better her for him". She had no other choice but to go along with it for three horrible years, and when she thought all hope was lost, there was a ray of light. A group of men came in for a business deal, and, as always happened, Ella was sent to "service" them. However, as she gingerly stepped into the room, one of the men held a finger to his lips and slipped her a piece of paper, all while the other three did a perfect imitation of the kinds of men who came to see her boss. The piece of paper detailed that they were undercover operatives from the SDU, and they had a plan to take down her boss, but they needed her help. It explained the entire plan, what Ella had to do, and that she only had to nod to agree to their terms. The piece of paper was titled Operation Songbird. Ella shivered, as she was unsure of if this was a test from her boss, but eventually, nodded, and stepped out of the room, stating that the group were ready for whatever deal they had come here to do. A week later, and the plan was to be set in motion. Ella, as she did every week, was doing a performance for her boss and some of his clients, and at the current moment was singing 'La Vie En Rose', a favourite of her boss. She was singing it with more volume and passion than she had ever before, because behind all of the doors were several SDU operatives creeping along, while the crowd was distracted by her singing. As she reached the crescendo, the operatives burst through the doors and dispatched any threats. Ella saw the boss make a break for it, and jumped towards him, kicking him in the shins and bringing him to the floor. The operatives took charge of the situation, and the boss was brought to justice, having millions of dollars' worth of illegal goods in his building, not to mention innumerable illegal workers and slaves. With the man brought to justice, Ella once again had no place to call her home, but the SDU managed to fund her entrance into top martial arts schools, as well as enough money to get her own place in Hong Kong, with an invitation to join the force whenever she was ready. Two years after, her boss died in prison, and the force brought her his gun, as a form of thanks for what she did. She accepted it, and realised at this point she was ready to join the force. She started off as a Counter-Terrorism and Internal Security Officer, but within 6 years, through extensive training (and a good word here and there) she was promoted to be a part of the Special Duties Unit, the same unit that had saved her from her miserable life. There she met some of the Officers who had been part of Operation Songbird, in addition to briefly meeting Liu Tze Long and Siu Mei Lin, who would go on to be members of Team Rainbow. During her time at the SDU, she worked with the tech division on a new system of microphones and speakers, inspired by the mission which had saved her, in use for distraction and disorientation. She was notified of Team Rainbow by some people, and displayed intense interest to get into the Team, and became good friends with Liu 'Lesion' Tze Long, they were almost like siblings. After the Bellagio incident, Ella was determined to become a part of Team Rainbow, and while her psych profile may have not been perfect, a good word from Lesion and her continued self-improvement made her the obvious candidate. Training and Experience Informal - Ella studied martial arts, handling weapons, and interrogation methods from the ages of 14-17 under the guidance of the mob boss, in the wish for her to become a consort and bodyguard to him. After Operation Songbird, she continued to study martial arts at some of the most illustrious schools available for a further 2 years. 6 Years at the Hong Kong Police Force - Counter-Terrorism and Internal Security Officer 5 Years at the Hong Kong Police Force - Special Duties Unit 1 Year as an on-field operator for Team Rainbow Family Unknown Theme Song
