And when they do, it’s triple the intensity of any other person displaying an extreme emotion. It helps that she was raised within the philosophy of Eastern martial arts. She learned the value of discipline early on and has never once thought of it as restricting. She is also very careful. With almost everything. Her words, her actions, her interactions with others. And naturally her work. She is slow to engage with others, but once she gets close to you, truly and really, that’s it. You have a friend for life and beyond.

From another’s perspective she can be viewed as shy and withdrawn. But if one possesses the patience to break through her protective walls they will discover a very warm and engaging person in Z. Highly intelligent and very well read, but never arrogant with it. Only eager to share her knowledge and engage in a stimulating conversation.

She can be a bit of an airhead whenever she’s working on an R&D project and will readily ignore people in her vicinity as if they weren’t even there. When called on it, she’s likely to act embarrassed.

Nik has a kinky side to her that very few people ever get to witness. Although sometimes, in unguarded moments, hints might appear here with certain references she makes in conversation. Coupled with a somewhat wicked sense of humor.

After the Battle of New York and all that S.H.I.E.L.D. has done to protect the Earth and its inhabitants from all the alien bullies, Nik believes it is the best place for her to continue on her mission to prevent people from suffering the fate of her parents and all the victims of the London bombings.

[b][color=bc8dbf]General History:[/color][/b] Born to an Iranian mother and a Bulgarian father Z was a frail, sickly kid. Both her parents worked day and night to provide for their child the necessary health care. After years of going to doctors and numerous tests that couldn’t tell them what was wrong with their daughter, Z’s mom and dad turned to alternative medicine for answers. They took her to all kinds of practitioners, until it was suggested to them that they enroll her in chi gung classes and encouraged meditating and similar practices.

And so began little Z’s adventure into the world of Eastern martial arts. She found herself like fish in water. The classes not only lifted her spirits and improved her overall health condition, but proved to be as simple to the child as breathing. She possessed a more than average natural talent for picking up techniques and moves and soared through the ranks fast.

Seeing their child improve almost miraculously showing a bright and cheery side to her that was previously squashed by her poor health, her mum Mahmonir and her dad Stoyan chose to encourage Z’s love of Eastern martial arts so they enrolled her in Aikido classes coupled with the chi gung ones. The family was finally happy and worry free.

But alas. It was not to be.

Misfortune struck on July 7, 2005, when Z was but nine years old. While the little girl was safe at school, her parents were riding the Tube to work when the London bombings have occurred, robbing her of both her parents, as both Mahmonir and Stoyan had been among the victims.

After the death of her parents Zoya came to live with her legal guardians, Haruhito and Midori Hideyoshi. Close friends to Z’s family as well as proprietors of the Aikido dojo where the little girl trained. At only nine Nik was crushed by the loss of her parents. Being taken in by her beloved sensei and living together with their daughter and fellow aikidoka, Miyaki, helped some, but the bright and cheerful girl from the before was gone!

At the age of sixteen Z joined the British Army with the sole purpose to become an explosive technician so that what happened to her parents and her would never happen to anyone else. She trained hard and studied harder to obtain her degrees in engineering and her PhD in Explosive Engineering and devoted her life to the Corps of Royal Engineers working as a bomb disposal expert in finding and dismantling of explosive ordnances. But that was not enough! She worked tirelessly to research and develop better ways of ordnance disposal. Be it bomb disposal robots, better bomb suits, and explosive ordnance chemical trail sniffers. You name it, she’s worked on it.

Nik can't help but feel some form of unconscious resentment toward Novi. It's probably the Russian connection. There's a lot of history between Bulgaria and Russia that is not always readily know by most people. Still Nik respects Novi for her achievements and what she's accomplished and actively works to not allow the 'Russian connection' to sour any future relationship they may have.

Niah was the one person in Sci-Tech to really take an interest in Nik. She'd always be careful and friendly and try to talk to her even seeing how shy and withdrawn Nik can be. Niah didn't give up and little by little the two bonded over science first. Then over their love for cooking and restouranting. And eventually even over the loss of loved ones to violence.

Either because she wants to be someone special to Teresa or simply because she doesn't feel Terry suits her well. Nik will usually avoid Tess in fear of her feelings showing. And whenever she's unable to avoid Tess she'll go even more shy than usual, fumble with her 'hello' and promptly run away the first chance she gets. Because being near those hazel eyes is just dangerous! Especially coupled with that brain of hers. Smart women are extra hot!

Em and Z have sparred a couple of times. Those staves are lethal in the hands of a trained user. What's more interesting is the book thing. Z has spotted her a few times stashed in a corner reading a book. And not an e-book either. The real McCoy, baperback. Which is rare these days. So many things go digital. And there's just something special about reading a paberback book. For Nik reading digital messes with her immersion. She's always conscious of the page turning button press or finger slide. On the other hand she barely registers turning the page of a paberback book. It's almost like the pages turn themselves.
