I like that alternative suggestion too! In the interest of promoting discussion, I'm going to be awkward and vote for Davison's (just realised I've been spelling wrong, apologies) status to be unknown. 1) Greater potential for the plot and the various characters on various leads to track him down through a large number of different avenues. 2) Whether we help him or not, that can be an entire extra plot on the end, so we are doubling our potential longevity here by tracking and then dealing with him. 3) It would be a great exercise in the 'GM-less' concept, by having the players decide the status of Davison once they have found him by looking at the previous stories tying into one and figuring out whether him dead or alive would benefit the preceding story more. Those are my personal opinions on the matter, anyway.
If we head in that direction, depending on the number of players involved, we might even be able to maintain multiple player groups at once, all doing their own investigations. A bunch of investigators who have the case outsourced to them by the corporate folk, a few of the police and even a couple gangstas just lookin' to see where their stuff guy went. Just a few additional thoughts that popped to my mind.
