Physical Appearance
A lanky, long-limbed Nautolan, green-skinned and with multiple head tentacles which are used to sample the air and sometimes emotions. He proudly sports a Mandalorian skull tattoo over one of his hearts, on the upper left chest.
Skills:
As a Nautolan and a native of Tengaru, which is very aquatic, albeit murky and covered in a lot of jungles along the equator where the industry and settlements are. Voshno grew up in these waters, and knows how to handle Jota-gators and other predators natural to the area. He's also a hunter, and is currently learning scrounging, scrapping and tech from his new siblings. He's never left the planet, but he looks forward to doing it some day with his new adopted family in Old Man Resol. He is a notably good tracker, countertracker and ambusher, perhaps due to sharp Nautolan senses and a very deep understanding of the local environment, and the squad doesn't get lost with him guiding them in. - Fieldcraft - All that hunting, fishing, diving, tracking, running around Tengaru's backwoods made him able to move through the place like a ghost. - Ranged Combat/Marksmanship - Old Man Resol drilled them all on this. - Takedowns - Another hunter specialty, but he's learned (and practiced) how to do this up close and at range in silence. - Ambush tactics and Traps - More hunting, fishing, trapping and so forth. Old Man Resol channeled this into improvised traps and other devilish cunning things of that nature, supplementing what he knows of ropes, lines, snares, etc. - Small Watercraft - A lifetime growing up learning how to use Tengaran waterspeeders, and he's okay on landspeeders, but they lack the feel for him. - Good with a needle - Surprisingly, he's good at sewing together tarps and web gear. You never know...
Equipment:
- Combat Armor - While Mandalorian culture is all about jump packs, Vosh is no jetpack lover and does without in most circumstances, but can attach an Arakyd Whisper if necessary. His suit, however, is optimized for vacuum and aquatic operation with extra sealants and extra oxygen. It also has been modified for adjustable buoyancy, which means he can pick his depth with adjustments on the wrist. It has deployable fins. Targeting and tracking are emphasized, along with remote droid networking integration for scouting/targeting assistance. Even in the armor, he is obviously not human, but that doesn't bother him. His armor is painted primarily blue with gold and red highlights which is its own message in Mando culture. - Wrist-mounted grapple launcher - Also useful for catching Tey-Fish, a Tengaran delicacy. - Datapad/Commlink- mounted on the right wrist. - A300 Blaster Rifle - A rebel-issue weapon, his has been modified for increased handling in the form of a vertical foregrip and a folding stock. Optics vary. - Disruptor Pistol - Extremely illegal and extremely lethal, Voshno has one of these as a backup weapon. It is a mostly metal weapon, with heft and weight that helps keep the recoil from firing under control. - Magnacaster pistol - One shot weapon that fires a magnetically propelled bolt, but it is silent and powerful. The downside is that it is breach-loaded, and so is essentially a weapon to be used to ambush. Voshno has used it to get someone from underwater. - Dive knife - Short bladed, very useful for cutting entangling things. More of a utility item, but it is a straight dagger with a rubberized grip and he uses his in takedowns. - x2 C-25 Fragmentation Grenade - x2 Sonic Grenades - x2 Pursuit Deterrence Mine - x1 Det Pack, waterproofed. - Medkit, integral to armor. - Camouflage Cloak - Low tech, but in Tengaru terrain colors. It helps break up the form and is quite useful for any number of tarp-type uses. Other Equipment - Voshno tends to modify his loadout as needed, but generally carries marker lights, a cutting torch, tools and other items as needed. Since Resol Squad is often hijacking stolen vehicles and salvaging Imperial equipment, they've had a lot of practice with patching things up. Notably, he also carries extra bounty-hunter cuffs and something to tape over an Impie's mouth with, because he learned the hard way that some prisoners will yell and cry the whole way home.
Personal History:
Born to a Nautolan clan that settled on Tengaru, Voshno started life in Lake Jang and as he grew up and got on land, was taught to harvest li-pearls and Tengaran nectar melons, which grew underwater and were considered a prize. His family ran farms of these way back in the boonie parts of Tengaru, away from Ghala, the glittering, balmy lakeside capitol. They were on their own, and he learned to fend off local wildlife intent on eating their crop. They explored the rural wilderness that surrounded them and learned the ways of the place; adventurous kids, he and his siblings played elaborate games of hide and seek, and eventually were taught to hunt and defend themselves as they got older. The Imperials on Tengaru were constantly under attack during the Dark Times, but it was always low level stuff, harassment attacks and sabotage by local Rebel Forces. Occupation was something they heard about, but it really didn't touch them until an Imperial platoon on patrol showed up at their family compound and demanded to search the place, intent on finding rebels. Unbeknowst to much of the family, his grandparents, clan matriarch and patriarch, were passing info onto the Rebels in the area. Voshno was not there, nor was his brother, when the Imperials, encountering backtalk, decided to kill the whole compound out of frustration for the guerrilla attacks they'd been enduring. Voshno and his brother Grin were the survivors of the bunch. Both went through the Alliance's edition of basic training under Colonel Jest's tutelage, but it never felt right. They knew the terrain, they knew how to move in the wilderness but their leaders were not impressed with the ideas. It came to a head when Grin was killed in one of the Regiment's few actions and Voshno had tough words about it. At that point, Old Man Resol was just getting his unit formed and Voshno volunteered for it -- the old Mando had things to teach and, once they talked, appreciated the Nautolan's need to fight effectively. It wasn't easy, it wasn't fast, but Old Man Resol retrained Voshno and gave him a whole set of new skills and a cultural outlook similar to the Nautolan morality he understood from his family and upbringing. The Resol'nare came easily to him, as did the Mando habit of having confidence in yourself, not someone with gold braid on their chest that said they were in charge. As Old Man Resol began to plan and lead raids, he took note and learned even more, as he fell into the role as the local guide, the person that brought a diverse pack of beings through the swamp and jungle of his home planet, seemingly unavigable and impassible, to their targets and then out again. He learned to savor the sound of his leave-behind traps going off and an Imperial soldier screaming so loudly that the local aerial wildlife flocked up in a rush of wings against the air, bursting through the canopy. Through unblinking Nautolan eyes, he watched Imperials die in his crosshairs and learned to think little of it; them or us. Meanwhile, Colonel Jest's regiment, the rest of it anyway, sat around and rewrote reports to make it sound like these results were coming out of the regiment at large, rather than just one particularly ferocious squad of outcasts, but he didn't really worry after the politics. The war was in his blood now, and so was the Mando way.
