Most players were gone by now, back to the troubles of the real world. However, a select few of the once large player-base remained unwilling to part with a game, that have given them much more than its creators could ever know, until the very last moment. A number of players from PVP guilds came together for a final all-out battle to the end, with the power PVP couple Cersei and Sunder the last ones standing. Others wandering their favorite areas of the game, basking in the fantasical sights that once awed them. Each player was enjoying their last moments in their own, unique way just as it should be. For being just a game, Yggrdasil gave them an all an invaluable commodity...an escape. Players have come and gone in the years of Yggdrasil's operation but those here at its end...were also at its beginning. For the first and last time in the game, the entire player community were united in one thing: saying goodbye. An in-game service annoucment counted down the time unitl Yggradsil was gone and the world the players created in it. It was mere moments away.
3... 2... 1... 0.
The game known as Yggdrasil ceased to be, though it was not the end as the player called Volaris would soon find out. While the rest of the Catherdral of the Damned had logged out and were now gone, Volaris remained in spite of the counter having reached and stopped at 00:00:0000. The Cathedral of the Damned no longer residing in the haunted swamp it once resided. Instead, the large and forbodding structure was nestled deep in the depths of a vibrant green forest. The tree-top reached over the top of the Catherdral, though itself was in a clearing caused by its sudden appearnce in the terrain. Around the forest were green, rolling hills that transitioned to a rocky crag towards the south. It woud appear peaceful and serene if it were not for the signs of battle at a large fort some distance from the forest. It is also the closest structure to the cathedral.
