[@Mister Thirteen] perhaps some type of shotgun? and the only other thing I could think of is perhaps a slug thrower for a assault rifle. Also for a edit when it comes to the laser carbine. I think it would need more rounds per clip. Since as a police force you want to be able to spend more time shooting then reloading. maybe like 25 shots or something. Otherwise our characters would have to carry a lot of ammunition in a firefight
