Me being me, I'm most interested in the weapons. I take it we can expect the usual sort of classes from video games (assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, SMGs, pistols, explosives, etc.), but how specialized are you planning on shooting for (no pun intended)? For example: splitting up ARs depending on ammunition type (ie- 5.56x45 "assault rifle" cartridge vs. 7.62x51 "battle rifle" cartridge)? And are any games a "main" source of inspiration (ie- taking elements of PUBG, throwing in some Halo, and a dash of CoD)? Final question for now: will weapons in-game be following the "AKA-47" rule (weapons are from real life, but under different names) or fictional firearms based on real guns (for example: the Black Ops 3 FFAR being based on the FAMAS)?
Weapon will be divided in some broad categories, like Handguns, Rifles (which includes non-rifled, smoothbore weapons that perform like long range rifles, ex: ISW 2000), Assault Rifles, Shotguns, SMGs, Machineguns, Conventional Melee Weapons (knives, axes, etc.), Explosives (grenades, grenade launchers, RPGs, etc.), and Exotic Weapons (everything else that doesn't fit the other categories, like bows, crossbows, energy weapons, etc.). As far as naming goes, just use the real world name of the weapons. It's much less confusing and appropriate for a semi-realistic shooting game, just like the vast majority of modern shooters. Ammunition will also match the weapons, so you can't fire .45 bullets from a 9mm pistol, for example.
