[@Kuroyomihime] How easy is it for someone in the game to tell the difference between a PC and an NPC? Also, some games require a minimum level to get at more powerful level up perks to reward the players who put in enough game time to make it that far. Does Gun Burst have a system like that?
The same that happens in any other proper game, NPCs have different health and status bars to make it sure that people can tell the difference between them and other PCs. Also, while their AI is pretty advanced, they still behave in predictable patterns, it's easy for most players to tell them apart just because of this. I'll answer questions about game mechanics in depth, after he main thread is live (hopefully later today). For the time being, I'll say that the answer is yes and no. While the game itself may have a system like this, it'll not be relevant for the purposes of the story, since everyone is going to begin at maximum level anyway. I don't want this to be a story were we overthink (in-game) game mechanics. This isn't going to be tabletop style so there's no need for a hard set of rules, which generally are the lest interesting part of the game anyway. As long as Gun Burst doesn't feel like a poorly thought game from a IC point of view, it should be enough. The rest will be done in a narrative-based way.
