A midnight visit to an abandoned highschool wasn’t exactly her idea of a fun night out. Really, she’d rather be in her bed right now. She was beginning to regret actually emerging from her room for the longest time in a month. Maybe she should’ve just stayed there and ignored all of this shit. She stuck close to Min, though even he seemed more shaken than he normally would. A lot of stuff had happened. At least it meant he wasn’t asking her anymore questions. On the other hand, she imagined they both had a lot more questions about what was going on. She didn’t really want to find out the answer to them. “Someone really had a thing for creepy messages,” Rien added to the graffiti discussion, staring at it from where they were in the middle of the group. “This just keeps getting creepier.” Tuyen actually jumped when Nate shouted at them to look. Min turned around but neither of them saw whatever Nate had. It just put Tuyen much more on edge. She was surprised she hadn’t seen anything that the others couldn’t yet. Her mind (and whatever tormented her) were surprisingly quiet. “Yeah, have to say I agree with Billy on the whole not going that way unless it’s the right direction,” Rien turned her eyes to Sharon. Thankfully they were quickly led to their destination. And a room filled with countless photographs. “Holy shit,” Rien looked around with wide eyes, and a sick feeling in their stomach. There were so many photographs. It didn’t take her long to find one that she recognised – her stepmom. What the hell. Everyone in town was on here. Did that mean everyone was at risk of being eliminated? “This is unreal.” Min picked up the photograph he found of himself, for once ignoring the knowledge that came into his mind. He knew who had written this. He scrutinised it as if to find some more information out of it. Tuyen, on the other hand, had backed away to let her back hit a wall. All the pictures felt like they were staring at her with the words “eliminated” engrained into her mind. Everywhere she looked she saw it. She wanted to leave. “They really have everyone here,” Rien mumbled as they looked around the walls. They’d found their step-dad now, some classmates and eventually themselves. “No wonder it was so easy to kill people if he had all this information…” Trying to ignore the pictures, Caelea approached the chest hesitantly. She was trying not to think about any of it. Just figure out the chest that seemed as terrifying as everything else. Like she could somehow know what was inside without having to open it. Because she didn’t want to open it. Not at all. Something was telling her that opening it wasn’t going to be a fun experience. So instead she scrutinised it while trying to work up some form of courage to actually open it. Min turned away from the picture he’d been looking at, brow furrowed. “So if the guardian wants to eliminate awakened and there’s another force out there that does to, where does that leave us?” Pretty hopeless, was on the tip of his tongue. But he didn’t say that instead indicating the pictures. “They have all of this information and we have nothing. And I somehow doubt this guardian business was just John.”
