[@Cleverbird][@Goldeagle1221] The way I see magic, most of our contact with it will be via the residual sorceries left over by the ancients, or ensorcelled artifacts. They lived in what could be called a magical 'golden age.' Much of that know-how has been lost, and the new inhabitants of the Cradle are not as gifted in that regard. However, there are those that have innate aptitude - say 1 in 10,000 or so. The ability to channel magic would very likely skyrocket you to rockstar fame. As for biomes, we're still working on that and are in the process of having a map drawn up. But know that there are badlands, plains, upper temperate forests and lots of geysers. I'd love to be able to just say "tech level is CONAN," but to narrow it down - technology will vary from nation to nation and proximity to major population centers. Bronze and iron are the dominant weapon/armor materials. We look to early-mid antiquity for a rough analogous period. Rule of cool is the order of the day - though this applies more to badassery and feats. A great warrior might take on and defeat ten men at once, but the fighting itself ought to be grounded in realism (no swords slicing stright through breastplates like butter, and what-have-you).
Aristo pretty much nailed this head on. If you do decide to do magic, please do it in a more.. Howardian Homage style than say Tolkien.. I.E ritualistic rather than frivolous flicks of the hand. Magic has to be just as bizarre and gritty as this crazy world of ash, blood and sword! As for everyone else. I will be making a discord for us to chat about our ideas, and expect the ooc shortly. [@Cleverbird] Also! I have a rough draft of the map, a little hand done doodle, but it's currently being made into a more comprehensive map by [@Isotope]. In the mean time: The cradle is the area inside the ring of volcanic mountains, known as the Brimlands. The Brimlands are littered with ancient ruins and terrible happenings, an almost if not forbidden area among most intelligent peoples. Beyond the Brimlands is the Dark lands... a place were we as a people have not been since we first escaped it in favor of the Cradle itself. One can only speculate it is still as terrible and horrifying as it was during the age of ash, from which we pull ancient myth and legend to understand such a enigmatic land. The Cradle itself is dominated by a fertile plain, mostly under the guard of Mennon, the people of the horse. To the southeast, near the Silesea and Kothar border there are immense sprouts of geysers and giant lakes, left over from the Omega's blast. Far northwest, deep in the territory of the Rosahd there are nigh impenetrable dark forests, filled with wildlife both known and abnormal. It is not unusual for tales of monsters that had come from the close by Brimlands to have taken a home in such a land. To the Northeast of Mennon are the badlands of Baccum, a rough, arid place were law seems to have died along with civilization, we do not go there (of course this means we WILL go there). [@Aristo] Did I miss anything?
