I'd be more inclined to be forgiving towards the new movies if the people making them didn't have a habit of jumping onto social media to attack their own customers.  There's only so many times you can hear your own concerns dismissed as "whiny man-babies" or accused of being racist/sexist/etc before you stop separating the art from the artist.
