While Emily felt like she was falling behind in her cooking, it didn't seem like the droves of people she was expected were showing up to eat. Perhaps it had something to do with that announcement. It probably would have been best to attend, but Emily decided to continue cooking. It was what she told Bliss she was going to do, and she wasn't about to go back on her word. The old Emily most likely would have started feeling sorry for herself. Here she was making enough food to serve a small army, and no one was showing up. But that was a selfish way to think. No one owed it to her to eat the food she was making. As is, Emily was continuing a tradition that Bliss had started, and was doing this because she respected the nanny. She wasn't making over twenty plates of food for the infinites, she was making them for Bliss. Miss Buckly could rest easy knowing that this task was being taken care of. In this place, the world was just the twenty four of them. In the outside world, there were billions of people. On such a large scale, it was possible for a few thousand, or even a few million people to skate through life without really contributing anything. But in here, everyone had to put work in. Becoming an infinite made her feel entitled. Talking to TV personalities and having her photo taken took precedence over actual care giving. When put in a situation like this where people actually had to be useful in other ways, she fell flat on her face. Emily had become a character who's sole purpose was to entertain. But she was not the main character of everyone's story, which was something she should have noticed sooner. But it wasn't until recently she started taking interest in everyone else.
Calvin had certainly been through the ringer. He may have a sister in this hell hole somewhere, he was used to lure Shona to her death, and everyone looked up to him to arm them for the night of carnage. There was certainly a moral responsibility there. They were in a killing game, and any weapon he made could just as easily be used to kill an innocent as it could be used to remove a carnage sister from play. Not that the sisters could ever be permanently killed, with an exception to maybe how Nariko went. She would need to talk to him some time. For his plate, she made sure to give him extra protein. She did this by giving him an extra egg and a slice of bacon. The poet. He had also suffered a bit. Emily had heard he was close with one of the victims, and she had met an unwholesome end by a trickster. But he continued to make contributions to everyone's happiness. He did this through being a rational human being, and entertaining others with his words. But unlike Emily, he made entertainment instead of becoming it. That was a very important distinction to make. The poet was older, and had a slender figure. She decided she would make his serving a little smaller, but give him a tall glass of orange juice. Caora was a bit like Emily; just an entertaining character for everyone to behold. The key difference was that Caora was less than half Emily's age, and he managed to brighten everyone's face with his antics. There was also the fact that unlike Emily, Caora was oblivious to his appeal. Caora was humble, took interest in things, and was willing to share his glow. It was amazing how regardless of what happened, he always managed to bounce back. In many ways he was a better caretaker than Emily. She would need to make sure his plate didn't contain too much sugar. But maybe it would be okay to spoil him, just a little bit. Faith wasn't too different from Emily either. She was a TV personality, and seemed to have difficulty dropping the act. It sounded like she had a rough time in these killing games, but who hadn't? That was not to make light of what she had accomplished within the group however. Her nutty antics didn't make her very fun to talk to. However, she was a capable fighter, and had proven that she could put together a pretty good party. Emily wondered if it would be a good idea for her to talk with Faith, to maybe get her to step out of her fairy tale world. But Emily did not believe that was something she could do. It was very possible Faith had seen far too many horrors to ever become normal again. Much like Caora, she would try to limit the amount of sugar on her plate. Mary, yet another TV personality. She had her hands in quite a few things. Not just streaming, but journalism too. Unlike Emily, Mary seemed to know when she wasn't standing in front of a camera. She had displayed quite a bit of empathy during Emily's time here, and was even brave enough to directly attack a carnage sister with a bucket of water. Sure, she ran away afterwards, but at least she stayed conscious. Mary just had a tremendous amount of heart. It was impossible to simply brush off Mary as someone who didn't contribute to the group. Emily decided to make Mary's plate contain less calories, but she didn't skimp out on the bacon. Due to it's protein content, it likely wouldn't incur any weight gain. Isaiah had been through the ringer too, if the second case was anything to go by. His family was divided, he was forced to live on the streets, and even got tangled up in the mafia. At least the bad guys got what was coming. It likely wouldn't completely heal Isaiah, but at least he would get some comfort knowing that those who hurt his family were all dead. But that was never the end, was it? Even when all of your enemies were dead, even when you had achieved conquest, you were still missing whatever was taken from you. Lives can be taken, but never given. Fortunately he seemed to be bonding with some of the other infinites, so maybe a new family was right around the corner for him. Emily felt he was a bit too thin, and heaped his plate with toast. He needed all the carbs he could get. Alice was an interesting kid. There was something wrong with her that Emily couldn't quite put her finger on. The way she socialized with the bear, and had very poorly timed grim humor. But Emily wondered if this eluded to some dark past she might have had. The recon seemed like she was an exceptional fighter, much like Ice and Faith. Even if their choice in weaponry was a bit... strange. And it wasn't like she was just a war machine. She seemed to be pretty good at playing the piano as well. Even though Emily thought she was a bit on the petite size, she decided to prepare her a normal sized portion. It was important to keep your strength up. Zachary seemed like a social outcast, at least in the outside world he probably was. But in here, his archery skills had likely prevented the deaths of many infinites. He was definitely instrumental in bringing down Alexandria, and she liked to think his sacrifice kept the others safe. It was likely that he would never be able to fire his bow again, not accurately anyway. But that didn't mean that there wasn't some aspect of Zachary that still shined. He was an odd person, but he was still a joy to be around. No one could say he didn't try to make himself useful. Emily wouldn't have been surprised if he walked inside the kitchen right now and offered to help make food. But it was probably best that she do all the work today. She decided that Zachary needed more energy, and slightly increased the amount of sugar and carbs on his plate. She did this by sprinkling brown sugar on his bacon. Cyrus was the group's leader, or at least Emily saw him as such. Like any leader, there were people who opposed his views, and they split off to make up their own groups. While it was easy to criticize some of his choices, and how he conducted himself during some of the cases, in the end he was a great asset to have. He was very smart, and even if his choices weren't always right, they were at the very least well thought out. But it seemed like he was getting better at controlling his anger. Maybe he would learn how to fully master it some day? Emily saw no reason to modify Cyrus's plate, and left it as balanced as she could. While Emily had formerly treated Thomas as nothing more than a small child, it was clear that he was a lot more than just a boy. He was fiercely intelligent, decisive, and perceptive. While she didn't enjoy being brought to her knees through his words, she knew he did it because it was what she had to hear. There was no doubt in Emily's mind that Thomas had everyone's best interests at heart, even if he sometimes pretended not to. She just wish he's open up to the rest of the group a bit more. The shady buisness he had going around with the other “outcasts” wouldn't be good in the long run. Thomas was small for his age, so she decided to pile his plate with extra everything, because he was a growing boy. Then there was Jezebel. It was hard for Emily to form an opinion on the Trickster. She was the cause of a lot of discord in the group, but at the same time, Emily didn't feel like she was truly maleficent. She seemed to get along with most everyone, even if they didn't get along with her. Jezebel was certainly helpful to a lot of people, even if she got on a lot of people's nerves. Zachary seemed to like her a lot, so she couldn't have been all bad. When making her plate up, Emily was considering serving it with a croissant filled with tooth paste. But Emily decided that the trickster wouldn't appreciate it, and decided to prepare her a regular plate. Max had been through litteral hell. His bother was dead, and he wasn't going to get the chance to exact vengeance himself. She could sense something darken within him. It was a shame, because she always felt safe when he was around. He challenged Thomas before heading out to the last Night of Carnage, and was bold enough to attack a carnage sister with nothing but a knife. She had heard he performed very well during the first case this particular killing game ever saw. But even outside of that, some of the other infinites seemed to enjoy his company. She hoped he wouldn't shut out everyone on account of his most recent tragedy. She would give him bacon AND sausage, to make up for the lack of pastries. Noel was someone Emily didn't feel entirely comfortable around. It wasn't that she felt Noel was malicious, it was just that she made a lot of mistakes, and she was constantly reporting everything. Not everything needed to be told to the masses, and as a celebrity herself, she should understand that. Noel's nosiness was something that was relatively understated. Perhaps that was because of how charismatic she was. She also seemed like she knew her way around a war zone, as evident by the NoCs. Emily didn't feel bad about preparing her plate like Max's. Emily was not sure what to make of Krista. She seemed to beam with life, and was relatively pleasant to be around. Definitely a bit on the stupid side, but her strong force of personality was inspiring. Regardless of how many times she was used, knocked down, or just everything failed, she managed to stand back up again. Even if Emily could only think of a handful of people who liked being around her, she was glad they were still with them. Emily wasn't sure what to do with her plate, and figured normal portions would be best. [s]Braiden sukz though, because he hasn't done shit[/s] [s]But Bliss was best girl, tru team mom[/s] [s]Nobody gives a shit about NPCs[/s] Henry, Noah, George, and Juliette would hopefully prove to be useful somehow too. They seemed like nice people, or at least they could be nice people. But in a killing game, it was hard to tell sometimes. Emily could try to be optimistic all she wanted, but that was the sad truth of their predicament.
She briefly caught a glimpse of Noah and Juliette entering the dining room. This was a surprise. Emily wasn't really anticipating the new people to come first, if at all. It probably didn't matter, but she had made each plate with a certain person in mind. It wasn't a huge deal, as she could just re cook any plate that was taken. But for the moment, Emily had to work on calming down and not messing anything up. It was important that she didn't impose on anyone too much. Just get them their food, and let them eat in peace. The last thing they likely want is to be bothered by some old lady who'll talk their ear off about any and everything. If they'd like to talk to her, they certainly have the power to do that. ”Noah and Juliette? What a suprise!” After anouncing their presence, she quickly assessed their body shape. She decided that Mary and Caora's plate would work well for Noah and Juliette respectively. Emily picked up the two plates and walked towards the duo, who had already let themselves into the kitchen. ”We have a tradition around here. Bliss typically cooks breakfast for everyone, but today I'm taking over.” She handed Noah his plate and winked at him. ”I hope you enjoy it. Having breakfast made for me every morning is one of the few simple joys we get to have around here.” She stood up straight and handed the other plate to Juliette. ”there's plenty of salt and pepper at the table. So why don't you go have a seat?” She smiled and folded her hands together.
“La la la la...” Jezebel arrived at the study with time to spare. That was to say that she arrived well before everyone else. Of course, not a whole lot had been done to set up the study for a meeting. Seating was limited and poorly positioned. As it was, there was no way everyone was going to be able to see what was going on. It was very important that everyone could easily see everyone else. But Jezebel had already made her announcement, so the clock was ticking. But she had an idea. Jezebel skipped her way over to the vault door and rapped on it with her knuckles. “Rise and shine, robo Betty!” Jezebel folded her hands behind her back. “Like, I could use your help, and junk.” Parker made her presence known.”What do you need? You had better not be asking me for weapons.” “Nah, that junk's for noids.” She stepped in front of the slot. “Like, I totally want to hold a meeting in here. So like, maybe you could help me? I Totally just need a few of these tables cleared out, and like, it would be tre cool if you could get us some more seats.” ”Ahh, the announcement. That was you.” The robot ajusted itself in the darkness. ”Time is of the essence, we should move quickly.”
As the infinites started to pile into the study. They would notice that things had been rearranged a bit. Various chairs were lined up in a circle, and not all of them originally came from the study. There were a fair number of lawn chairs with bright primary colors. They didn't go great with the decor, but at least there was ample seating. The infinites also more than likely noticed that there were no tables. However, there were scraps of wood thrown all over the place. But the bulk of such scraps were pushed up against the opening in the vault. “Park your butts everyone, let's get this show on the road!” On Jezebel's command, everyone started to seat themselves. Or at least most of them did. “Alright, so now we're totally going to have a nice meeting where we talk about making everyone happy and junk.” She gestured towards the vault door. “And before we get started, you should all know we so have a special guest with us today.” Parker's red eye glowed brilliantly from inside the vault. ”I am not sure what is being discussed, but I am glad I am a part of it.” her voice still sounded like a whisper, even though everyone in the room could hear it. ”I do not wish to be used in a murder where the blackened walks free.”
