I feel like it can be both. It all depends on how you play.


Pretty much this, but more often than not, it'll veer towards the action-y side. A game with people locked in a cycle of waiting would not be fun for anyone.

Hmm, I see. Although there's a hold on sheets, I built one up in the event a spot opens. I wrote it up with the wide, open world atmosphere of ARMA and designed the character as more of a stealth-based marksman - patient and deliberate. Diving into an ARMA free-for-all is a lot like playing hide-and-seek. But if everyone's sprinting about at close ranges and bullets are flying willy-nilly as in the SAO clip, I might rethink that idea.

The teams in GGO:Alternative were in similar format of up to--I think--four or five players, except it was a Battle Royale rather than set matches.

More or less.

We have 9 players as it stands right now. We can have up to four per team, and we already have a team of three and a team of four.

Wouldn't more people slow down the over all post cycles? Especially when this is starting in a PvP scenario were we all have to wait to react to anyone around our characters for fairness sake.

And considering no one has actually posted IC we may not want to slow things down even more.

The opening post has been up for only a day. Not everyone can up and drop a multi-paragraph post right away at a moment's notice. Some people have jobs or school among other things that may keep them busy.

That statement sounds like you want to rush for the sake of rushing. Yes, this is a PvP-based scenario with fast paced combat, but speedposting can and will drive people away. I'm not saying everyone has to post every post cycle, but if people are literally unable to react to opposing players (e.g. a team preforming a flanking maneuver) due to speedposting, then yes, we have a problem.

I whole heartedly agree with your standing on speed posting, but that's missing my point entirely. I'm not against taking time to work on posts, but adding the four or five people who are already cued up in a de-factor waiting list when we already have, as you say, jobs and other things to keep us busy, won't do anything to help us along.

At the very least we need to see how we operate with the nine people we have before we consider expansion or contraction of the player base.

Your statement sounded awfully pushy in regards to people being able to post/having a post up quickly, especially with the "no one has actually posted in the IC" part, but no worries.

Anyway, that is true. We already have a team of three and a team of four, leaving us with two people yet to have chosen or form a team. If chose to form a team, then they might have somewhat a chance, but if they choose to join the team of three, then that leaves one person on their own team. I doubt the teams will be allowed to be changed during the battle royale, so that leaves us with a decision to make.

Do we split up the teams into 3v3v3, or do we do something else, like have a deadline for those queued up to quickly make their character sheets to fill the remaining three spots? Alternatively, it could be a case of someone trying to do solo play in a squad-based battle royale.
