I’m willing to cut down the character’s antics and change a few things about the personality. But I’m not going to completely butcher the character’s initial design. The character doesn’t sound like he fits, but he’s more realistic than you might think in a military organization. And actually do fit perfectly in a dark fantasy setting about soldiers. A book series that shows this perfectly would be the Dragon Lance series, and Glen Cook's Black Company.
