Grif is rarely ever completely comfortable in any situation, but if he seems so it is most likely to hide that he is unsettled. To put it one way: he would rather bear through the pain than admit that he is hurting. This attitude can be attributed to his prideful nature, believing that he alone is capable of bearing everyone's burdens without consequence. On one hand, this displays a level of caring for others, but this also denotes a borderline [i]need[/i] to be self-sacrificing, and thus a self-destructive personality.

Grif is naturally likable by most, seeming to be capable of making friends with most people, and a well-rounded people person. Amongst friends he seeks to impress, not as some arrogant showboating meant to assert his macho dominance, but to put on a display to amaze and wow people for the thrill of it. He fits best in the midst of a crowd as the center of attention, and rarely ever enjoy being by himself on sleepless nights.

There is this nigh-egocentric idea of Grif's that it is his duty to protect and serve the greater good as if he was born with that purpose. And in a world where superpowered beings run rampant with gods, aliens, magic and the like, his duty drives him to reach never before seen heights. Enter S.H.I.E.L.D.: the opportunity to fight on the frontlines and become fully capable of doing so on equal terms with the denizens of this new world? You needn't have asked.

[b][color=f7941d]General History:[/color][/b] 
A Korean-American born out of wedlock would naturally not have grown up under the ideal circumstances. Though it wasn't as if he was left completely abandoned, his father, Dr. Ken Clarkson, had still provided financial support well into his high school education, but the lack of father figure coupled with his half-foreign origin did lead him to have doubts about his lack of identity. Yet whatever internal hardships he had, his mother, Hae-Won "Irene" Lee, would help him through them all and encourage him to pursue his interests instead. 

Fortunately, all things considered, the world was pretty much Grif's oyster; as an athletic young man who was easy to like, had little trouble with his studies and overall just attractive, he had many different career choices to pursue later in life, also having dual citizenship did not hurt as well. However he had lacked the drive for anything in particular, be it; medicine, professional sports, the arts, business, etc, he felt indifferent to all and coasted through high school without a goal in mind. 

Though, after graduating, as an able-bodied male come of age in South Korea, joining the military was something out of Grif's hands but that didn't mean he had done so unwillingly. In fact, it was if serving in the military was a calling for him, that he just now realized, and for once he was actively interested in something. His records speak for themselves; completing his military service in the States under the Korean Augmentation To the United States Army (KATUSA) Program, before being transferred back to South Korea as Acting Liaison between the two military branches. 

It was during his time stationed at the 38th Parallel, where Grif had distinguished himself as a soldier, through multiple military engagements with the Korean People's Army. One particular border incident on February 3rd, 2019 had involved an air-raid from a North Korean MiG-29 and had Cpl. Grif on a medical leave of absence, after sustaining heavy burns from the bombardments. Only hours after being briefed on his sudden 'indefinite release from active duty' was he approached by recruiters from S.H.I.E.L.D., having been on their radar as a potential recruit for quite some time.
