Now, Mariette was completely inclined to leave all these riches behind, but then Amber flashed through her mind, her request about taking something that belonged to Mariette. … Hm.

Regardless, they had nowhere to go. Looked like they needed two mirrors, regardless. After they had gathered sufficient goods, Mariette made them stop.

So Mariette declared, before trying to open a portal following the Overcity Shift using the mirror found in the treasury. Asengav’s Mirror was left unused, it was still the emergency exit. It was also a test to see if this mirror had any special properties. If it opened, Mariette would open eye-portals to look around, then make her decision, all while standing there clutching her bunny.
