Accessories are the delight of a GM. Innate abilities are the bane of a GM. Weapons and equipment can be lost, stolen, malfunction, jammed, possessed, depowered, have a limited number of charges or other limitations. Innate abilities rarely have any of those limitations. Maybe sometimes they'll get depowered or the character may get winded but that's about it. This gives the GM less options in his or her storytelling.
