Here at the edge of the bridge, Tortetarte can see plenty of places to tie and secure ropes to span the shattered sides of the moat on both near and far sides.  The problem still remains of how to get to the far side, for the keep was built atop a funnel-shaped hill to overlook the town.  This motte is fairly steep and looks to have slopes covered in loose shale.  Beyond this, the keep is encircled by a 15 foot high curtain wall, with the bridge extending straight into the gatehouses.
