Had Indigo not cared about mussing up his hair, he would have worn hats, and if he had worn a hat, he would have turned it backwards dramatically. Well-- it looked cool in his head at least. After heading outside to conduct the battle, and hearing Tepig's current moves from the professor, he knew he couldn't hesitate any longer. As it was, Indigo was feeling pretty nervous even though his expression seemed composed, if a little irritated. "Tepig, right? Cool." He jabbed a finger towards Torchic. "Let's jump into it, then. Tackle!" The grunting pig charged with ferocity, but he seemed slower than Torchic, who sidestepped him with an arrogant little puff. "Round back! Torchic's not gonna expect you to keep your momentum!" Indigo commanded, hoping that his plan would work. Indeed it did. The Tepig made a sharp turn, building up some speed and barreled into the Torchic. He oinked in triumph while Torchic skidded back on the ground, her talons leaving visible grooves in the soil. Oof, and I thought this pokemon was harmless. Man this Torchic's more trouble than I thought! Torchic ran towards Tepig with a Scratch, which connected and sent Tepig shying back. "Alright uhh..." Indigo mumbled, trying to compose himself and think of whether to use Tail Whip or not. But Torchic didn't hesitate; and to Indy's surprise, she puffed up and let out a flurry of brilliantly blazing, hot fire balls from her beak. The move was Ember, though Indy certainly didn't know it. All he knew was this this little chick could already breathe fire. The Tepig seemed surpised too and was hit with the flames. Indy gawked. Even if he won this battle, this Torchic knew a fire move already? This pokemon was going to be tough to handle. Why, why, why hadn't he gone with a grass or water type? The hearty Tepig let out a snort and grunt, digging and scraping the ground with his black hooves. The move had caught him by surprise but he wasn't going down. Indigo snapped back in concentration. He had to catch this Torchic! "Tail Whip," he called out. Tepig's tail seemed to let off a trail of sparkles as he wagged it. Huh, interesting... Torchic seemed taken aback, but then she charged forwards with her beak glowing. It was going to be Peck again. She grabbed Tepig's tail with her beak, but Indigo suddenly had an idea. "Swing her around!" He said quickly, and Tepig did just that, gritting and bearing the pain while moving his tail and throwing her. Torchic didn't expect it at all and went flying. "Tackle her while she's clueless!" Tepig didn't need to be told twice, and shoved into Torchic with an aerial Tackle. She let out a shriek and Indigo took the opportunity to toss the ball. Torchic's expression was shocked before she vanished in a flash of jagged red light. Indigo's heart was beating with anticipation. Had it worked? The ball shook. Come on... It shook once more. Please... Just... Once more. Get inside your ball! There was a ping of confirmation. The Tepig crowed in delight immediately but it took Indigo a minute to register what had happened. I... I got her? He stood up, half expecting the ball to burst open but it remained motionless. He let out an exhausted sigh, a triumphant smile on his face anyway though. "Finally. Sheesh." He wanted to jump with joy but he felt like that would have been uncool. So instead he picked up the ball and high-fived Dan with a grin before turning to the professor. "Thanks for the loaner pokemon. That was intense... Think we can heal this girl up?"
