“Watchers are the paragons of righteousness in the Gnaw, selfless protectors of the weak.” Name: Myrtle of Wormborough Rank: Greenband Appearance: A small brown mouse with a somewhat scrawny build. Myrtle is comely only by the merit of her youth, and her countryside upbringing can be easily identified through her speech and demeanor. She often has furrowed brows, giving her a permanent scowl. Like most mice, she wears nothing save for the Watcher’s armband. Personality: One can hardly find a greenband less naive than the new recruit known as Myrtle. Fed on the tales of adventure by her Watcher uncle, joining the famed Redwatch soon became an all-consuming dream. Myrtle would lead the village kids in play-acts of Watchers out on business, battling horrific monsters that lay outside the walls. Of course, her parents would have none of her nonsense and forbade her from leaving Wormborough. They needed all the help on the farm, even from their slightly underfed daughter, and joining the Redwatch had little merit to the family. The threat of monsters beyond the wall were too distant compared daily struggle to produce enough food for the next winter. Thus Myrtle resorted to the last resort of running away. Through sheer luck she encountered a merchant truck and hitched a free ride to Redfort, which was only a two day’s ride away, and managed to knock on the doors of a Watcher outpost. While not physically strong, Myrtle prides herself on the speed of her legs and the dexterity of her hands. Fueled by her passion, she took to training with an uncommon zeal that left her instructor impressed. However, she had a bad habit of deriding the other fresh recruits that fell behind. This brought much ire against Myrtle, resulting in several arguments and scuffles. Disciplinary action had taught her to watch her words, though she was still prone to the occasional ascerbic remark when provoked. Now a greenband, Myrtle is eager to prove her worth.
