Tortetarte Ties one end of the rope to the bridge. He then lets out the rope as he returns to his companions.

So I've tied one end of the rope to this side of the bridge, and we need to get this end of the rope [indicating the bit in his hand] onto the other side. Not sure I could make it there comfortably, but we do have a nice bit of rope to pull some one back up if they don't make it." [/color]
