Hannah rolled her eyes at the two men. Talkers. Great. Just what she wanted to deal with. She was sort of hoping that the other girl was going to do most of the chatting here, but that seemed pretty unlikely. Time to kick in those non-existent social skills. Hannah took a seat and leaned her head against her hands. Did she have a preference for food? She took a second to search her lack of memories and still came up with nothing. Maybe she hated most food. Maybe she ate anything. It was hard to tell, so she figured that she would just be fine with anything. “I’ll eat whatever,” she said and then looked at the other girl. Hannah stared for a moment before gesturing to the chair next to her as an attempt at being polite. "U-Um..." Muu was caught a bit by surprise as the two 'very sociable' males apparently finished their banter and now asked the two girls what they'd want to eat. Much like Hannah, Muu was asking herself the same. Was there any taste in particular? The ocean from earlier, fish maybe? "A-Anything's fine, yes!" She ultimately ended up saying in a rather clumsily manner. After all, the brunette didn't want to inconvenience these stranger any further! Regardless, Muu widened her eyes in surprise for a moment as the other girl gestured to the chair next to her. An invitation? Maybe, the other girl actually liked Muu despite the glance from earlier!? That was great! For just a second, Muu's face seemed very happy and relieved as she sat down next to Hannah. 'Alright.' Muu told herself. 'Do not screw this up!' She continued thinking. "I-I am Muu! … I think." She hadn't introduced herself to the girl, nor the cook, yet hadn't she? "IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU!" She added in a surprisingly loud tone, and stiff voice. Awkward enough to look down and turn a tad red. Maybe the earth would swallow her up now, finally! Hannah leaned back from Muu at the shout. Well then. Good to know that Muu wasn’t completely horrified of her. It was good right? Hannah was pretty sure that it was a good thing. At least it meant that there was someone else to talk to the men if they tried to engage again. She had no problem offering Muu up for that sacrifice. “You have no memories, right?” In a low voice. There was no point in wasting time. Or in introducing herself. Hannah felt a little smug at keeping her name to herself and was planning on avoiding it for as long as possible. She did glance at the men quickly to see if they were listening in on their conversation. She wasn’t sure if it was common for people to show up in this place with no idea how they got there. "..." And now, for another moment, Muu looked horrified. Her gaze still cast downards, locked onto her legs and the chair she was sitting on. Her heart was beating fast. What were most likely just a few seconds, felt like painful minutes for Muu. Minutes of silence that had her worry about just what bad things the other girl was thinking about Muu. Yet, thankfully, Hannah said something. A question. "But..." Muu whispered in a dry voice. 'But what's your name?' was a question she couldn't bring to ask herself. Yes. Of course. Why would she bother? Stupid Muu! Thinking that just because the other girl offered her a place that she had taken a liking to her. "N-No. I don't." Muu answered. Not like she had any lead to go off on. "But... isn't that normal?" Yes. It had to be! Otherwise the brunette would very likely freak out. "What about you?" Muu clumsily added with slight fright in her voice, afraid she'd get rejected by not receiving a positive answer. Was it normal? Hannah wasn’t sure and only offered up a shrug. She had no context for normal and was planning on just going with whatever happened around her. “Yeah, don’t know a thing except what people ‘round here have told me.” Which wasn’t much, in her opinion, but Hannah was keeping that to herself. “We’re gainfully employed.” Hannah paused for a moment, “at least the rest of us are. There are others like us. They went…somewhere else. I’m guessing you are lumped into this with us. Probably.” Hannah was making a lot of guesses here, but they all seemed pretty safe. She didn’t actually remember all that the guy in the recruitment office said. “Congrats on the job” Hannah tried to joke, but didn’t add any extra emphasis to any of the words so it felt flat to her own ears. "Huh...?" Slowly, Muu looked up. Confusion plastered over her face. There were a lot of things Hannah had just said. Employed. Congrats on the job. Lumped in with 'us'; and so on. "I... I don't know what you're talking about!" This time, Muu was a notch about her usual tone but not as loud as moments ago. "I just woke up and went to the sea before landing here!" Before finally becoming more silent again, if not even sad. "Nobody employed me for anything." What could she do anyway? Muu was worthless! Ugh. Hannah was getting a headache from all of this. She was definitely not qualified to be telling people potentially life altering news. With a sigh, Hannah massaged between her eyes, “I said I was just guessing.” Now, Hannah recognized when people probably needed comfort. She just didn’t know what to do when she did see it. Hannah carefully pats Muu on the back and mumbled “there, there,” in monotone. “In the morning I can show you the office we were brought to. Then you’ll know,” it was the most that Hannah could offer. If she was really lucky, maybe on the way there they would run into the others Hannah met before and they would then take over in showing Muu where to go. Maybe they even figured out what they were supposed to do next. As Muu felt a 'pat' on the back of her back the girl slightly shifted her head, looking at Hannah. Was the girl actually genuine? She... seemed to care? Right? Right! Giving Hannah a light smile, the brunette nodded as she swiped around her slightly teary eyes with the sleeve of her oversized sweater. "Y-Yes! Thank you." As conversation between the two simmered down, Darius came back, the freckle-faced youth carrying two plates in one arm, while his other hand held two wooden mugs, one filled with a dark red liquid while the other splashed with a pure white. Setting the plates and mugs down before the two girls, the knight flourished, bowed, and said, “For you, Muu, I’ve prepared a mushroom melt steak sandwich, cooked a tender rare for easy chewing, and a mug of cold, sweetened milk on the side. For the dainty one, a bowl of tea-soaked rice with shredded, grilled salmon, sliced ginger, and pickled radishes, accompanied with our own Order’s speciality wine. Enjoy~” From his corner, Gavriel shot the lanky chef a look, but received only an innocent smile in return. Huh, so the guy could actually cook. At least it smelled like he could cook. Hannah poked at the food for a moment just to make sure that nothing was going to jump out at her before taking a small bite of her rice. Hannah’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. Hot damn but she was into that rice. She dug in with gusto, giving the chef a nod before taking a swig of the wine. She wasn’t sure if she would like it, but just a small taste of the wine told her that she was a fan. At least she was learning things about herself. Rice, salmon, wine: yes. All good things. As subtlety as she could, though, Hannah pushed the ginger to the side of her bowl. Ginger: no. Thankfully, the awkward silence that now slowly settled between the two was interrupted by Darius. "F-For us?" Muu whispered in a dry voice as she could feel her mouth watering. Yes. This was clearly delicious. Carefully, Muu took a bite from the sandwich, slowly chewing on it as her face visibly lighted up. 'Food couldn't lie.' "This..." She murmured. "This is DELICIOUS! Thank you." Then again it wasn't like Muu remembered the taste of anything else, but at least it was a start. With silent eating sounds and shining eyes, the brunette continued chewing and drinking. Not really bothered by the not-communication with the nameless girl beside her. “Glad you’re enjoying it, ladies. Now, if both of you were to join the Order of the Silver Light, perhaps, you’ll be able to eat this sorta meal every night,” Darius chimed. Hannah took another sip of her wine and eyed the two men. She knew there was a catch, and she was also fairly certain about her initial fear of this being a cult. Was she the kind of girl who joined the first potentially cult to ask her? She would say no, but didn’t she already kind of do that? The dog tags around her neck felt heavier all of a sudden. She set down her cup and crossed her arms, “would we have to worship something weird and dance in the moonlight naked?” The idea of just jumping into a weird religion didn’t actually appeal to her all that much. Sure the food was good, but it wasn’t that good. “And, I already have a job,” Hannah added. "E-Everyday!?" Muu nearly choked on her meal upon hearing that, prompting her to take a big gulp of the milk. Really? Just like that. Joining them, however, did sound ominous. Though, before Muu could think further Hannah already kind of denied their offer, didn't she? "U-Urm..." Instinctively she held the sleeve of the other girl, as if it'd strengthen her resolve. "I already got a job, too... I think." She whispered, barely able to even convince herself to outright deny the offer. Darius grinned wolfishly at Hannah. “Well, if you're offering, I'm certainly not opposed t-“ “Feel free to ignore him,” Gavriel interposed, smacking the chef-knight on the head. “Though the Silver Light and the Silver Moon have closer ties than I'd imagine you know of, it’s a wise choice to hold off till you know more. I'm sure Mathers can fill you in in the morning anyways, ladies.” Hannah stiffened at Muu grabbing onto her sleeve. Her eye gave a twitch but she didn’t shake the girl off. Apparently Hannah was a comfort. That thought made her uncomfortable. But she had bigger things to focus on at the moment. Like glaring at the chef. And also figuring out where to stay the night. “Right. Morning. Do you know a place we could stay?” Hannah wasn’t sure what time it was, but she could feel her eyes growing heavy. After all, it had been a very big day what with the waking up in an unknown place with no memories and being told she was a mercenary of some sorts. Oh, hey, they didn't threw them out, yet! Alas more talk about Silver this and Silver that. What was it and their obsession with silver? "I... I think..." Muu started to talk but quickly realized what she was about to say could go very wrong. "Eh- nevermind..." 'I think we're allowed to sleep the night here.', but what if they weren't? Then Muu was wrong, would get weird looks, or maybe even laughed at! Or maybe kicked out for behaving like she suddenly 'owned' the place. “Not here,” Gavriel said before Darius could embarrass the Order any further, “Further north, at the mountains, you'll see the Church of First Light, it's staircase illuminated by torches. That will be your destination, if you need a place to stay without coin to pay.” Of course they have to go to the mountains to find a place to rest. Not like she actually expected these people to help more than they had, but she was real ready to be done with this fun adventure she did not volunteer to be on. But, she did not really have that much of a choice. “Thanks. For the food,” Hannah said while she stood up. She grabbed Muu’s hand and gave it a little pull. There was no way she was going to let this girl find her way there on her own. “Ready to go?” "T-The fisherman told me about that!" Muu spoke up as they talked about a hobo shelter. But, on the mountain? Just how far would they have to go? "... I think." Once again adding in a dry whisper. All she got were some directions. Obviously, Muu allowed herself to be easily pulled away/up by Hannah as she stuffed the rest of the sandwich into her little mouth. "Thanks for everything!" And nodding to the other girl. "Let's... go?" Were they really going to stick together now? Muu barely dared to hope. Hopefully it wasn't too far! Once Gavriel made sure Darius wouldn't sneak in the kitchen again, the handsome hunk with a majestic mane saw the two girls out, bidding them good fortune and good night. With full stomachs and a clearer idea of where they had to go, their journey continued through the well paved streets and opulent residences, where only the rich and powerful seemed to dwell. Further north, however, away from the open sea breeze and the starscape that reflected itself in the lapping waves, the buildings became more austere and simple, fewer guards present. Some drunks snored mindlessly against walls of shuttered residences, while the incline steadily grew. They had a mountain to climb indeed. With the two of them on their own again, walking through the by now pretty much empty streets under the moonlight, Muu sheepishly stammered out a few more words. "T-Thank you!... for everything..." Of course, it sounded way 'weirder' than she had hoped to be. Finally away from others Hannah felt like she could breathe. Well, sort of. She did still have a Muu attached to her, but she brought that on herself. Besides, if she let go now there was little doubt in Hannah’s mind that Muu would end up in trouble. She had nothing to base that on, of course, but she had put too much effort into keeping an eye on her thus far to just let it go to waste now. Without even looking at the girl, Hannah gave a nod to her words and set off. She was pretty sure she was going north, out of the denser part of the city and away from the sea breeze. The further out they went, the tighter onto Muu’s hand Hannah held. It wasn’t that she was scared, Hannah would never be scared, it was just that things were looking a little rougher. The occasional snoring drunkard and lack of security was mildly upsetting. After all, it did pay to be cautious. The trek was indeed long and by the time they made it to the stairs, Hannah could feel the start of a burn in her lungs. Apparently she did not spend a lot of her time wandering through cities before now. Another thing she learned about herself. But it was no time to stop now, they were so close. “Come on,” Hannah said gruffly before ascending up the steps. Sweat gathered at her brow and she refused to acknowledge the ache in her legs as up, up, up they went. Eventually they reached the summit and were faced with large doors. At this, Hannah pulled Muu in front of her, finally let go of her hand, and gestured at the door in front of them. There was no way Hannah was going to do the talking here. She had her fill of small talk with the two men earlier. Unlike Hannah, Muu wasn't out of breath at all. In fact, the way Hannah behaved was so weird for Muu that she had to ask, full of worry. "A-Are you alright!?" Though in the end it was nothing serious. Ending up in front of a large, wooden, double-winged door it now seemed to be Muu's turn to do 'something'. "B-But... I..." Alright. The still nameless girl had done 'so much' for Muu, at the very least, the brunette could do this, right!? Closing her eyes and taking some deep breaths, the shy girl opened her eyes with newfound determination. "Alright!" Knock knock knock. Time was passing at the pace of one second per second!... Yet, nobody seemed to open. Maybe Muu had been too silent? Again! With more gusto, obviously. Knock knock knock. Uh, did the wood just crack a bit? Nah, surely just a trick of the light. Either way, as Muu waited some more, and just about to knock a third time, the door slowly creaked open. “Welcome to the House of the First Light, lost lambs. Do you seek shelter? Confession? Or…would you like to make an offering in return for a holy boon?” An old, wrinkly nun, clothed in nunly fashion, opened the heavy gates as she spoke words she had spoken so many times before. "We!... We'd like..." Such an elderly woman, and Muu's impatience had been so rude! Ohgoshhopefullyshedidn'tthinktoobadlyofher. "...shelter...please?" Once again, the brunette sought comfort in the warm hands of Hannah as the Nun simply stared before giving a delayed answer. "Ah, yes, yes, more lost, little, lambs." Taking a step to the side the nun gestured forward, into the main prayer hall. A bunch of other hobos, and even familiar faces(?), could be seen sleeping on the pews. Line after line. "Just, please, make sure to leave with the first daylight... unless, of course, you'd wish to join our Holy Order." With these words, the Nun gave a small yawn from her. "As for food... I'm afraid you're too late." With these words, the Nun simply nodded and went on her way again, expecting the two to make themselves at home... until daylight.
First light came too early for the five who found themselves discarded unto this foreign land, and the hard pews meant aching bodies when the clanging of the pots roused them from their slumber. Matt and Aoi woke up with aching, empty stomachs, while Ash felt rather greasy and gross after pigging out on pig meat last night. Muu and Hannah, rolling out of their respective pews, felt similarly gross, but their stomachs were still pleasantly sated, and what they lacked in sleep, they made up in food-energy. The stained glass windows in the large church gave off a slight kaleidoscopic glow over everything, as everyone’s bleary eyes were naturally drawn towards the bright-faced nun who slammed a ladle against a blackened pot. Though angelic in countenance, her actions were anything but, and after a few more loud rings, everyone, regardless of hangovers or not, were up and ready to get their free breakfast of almost-flavorless soup. It was when they lined up for something to fill their stomachs and quench their thirst that, amazingly enough, Hannah, Muu, Matteo, Ash, and Aoi encountered each other once more, surrounded by still-drunk hobos. The day had begun. They may as well start with a hearty ‘good morning’. [@Burger][@Denny][@Buzzkill][@Skyswimsky][@ChangeJar]
