Their body armor is a lightweight polymer allows high mobility and still provides adequate protection. ADVENT officers greatly improve the combat effectiveness of their squads, and can give clear and concise orders to their subordinates. Officers come equipped with a mag pistol as well, greatly increasing their combat effectiveness in close quarters. Their armor is stronger too, allowing for greater protection and the slight cost of mobility. Their small size allows them to be nimble and maintain cover. They aren't equipped with any armor, but their wrist mounted plasma pistols punch far above their weight class. Additionally, all Sectoids are psionically gifted, allowing them to merge their minds with other Sectoids for greater combat effectiveness. Some sectoids have even been known to infiltrate the minds of their victims.
