He was a restless One, travelling the globe that it inhabited, if that was what you could call his relationship to it. Bound to an object that seemed to be manifested on another plane of existence. Somehow they were intertwined. There was something for him here. He called it Destiny. Travelling, he could. Observing, he was. But powerless, he felt. His search was for a way to influence this world. With the tension between desire and reality, grew ambition, grew power. He experimented with everything he laid his etheral eyes upon. Mountains? Higher! Oceans? Deeper! But nothing he could change. Nothing he could touch. Until.. There was something he had seen many times before, but that had never really gotten his attention, because it was so small, so silent. Incredibly small and complex combinations of matter. That moved, that had to interact with their direct environment to sustain their form. Ever changing, was their only option to stay the same. It was fascinating. The gracefulness of this 'beings' was in it's complexity. In which it was far superior to any heaven or mountain or ocean. Even in this smallest form. More interesting was even, it's potential. Studying the beings intensely, he found the immense potential, hidden within it in the strings that defined the form of the being. 'I wonder what would happen if I changed the order of the molecules on this string....I wonder if I could..make it... better.' With that single thought, his power trough his ambition was released, and he could reach the material world. He could touch it. And it reacted. The Artist had found his Medium. For many suns and moons, the Ambitious One experimented with his new medium. Changing and often destroying his subjects in the proces. Luckily there were many. He studied and learned until he knew, which action, would cause what reaction. But with every organism being dependent on it's surroundings, there was no absolute way of telling what the ultimate result would be. He liked it that way. It made his desire grow. it was the ultimate challenge. It was his destiny. Many organisms changed around him, even without his touch. There was food aplenty to sustain the organisms. But the danger came from organisms that preyed upon others.. These inspired him, this was what he wanted to create as well. But he was ambitious enough to be patient. He altered the DNA in a way that, the organisms would grow a sting that could protrude the membranes of other cells. This would both ensure the safety of his organisms against predators as well as make a fine meal out of them by ripping open their membranes and feeding on their organelles. Letting the prey come to you, was a fine strategy.
