Best Character:
[@HenryJonesJr] This one was close battle between the characterization of Green Lantern, The Fantastic Four, and Spider-Woman. Eventually it came to Spider-Woman due to my affection of the Spider-Man continuity, my interest in seeing the posts each week (sometimes soonr), and Henry's skillful work in bringing that corner of the universe alive. I've mulled over the same concept before, but Henry's done it more actively and imaginatively than I could have. It's a great character written by a great writer.
Best Character Concept:
[@Morden Man] To see Morden's Fantastic Four from the New Frontier universe again was a surprise. A very good one. Much like Byrd I love timey-wimey bullshit and I also happen to like the Fantastic Four as characters. How they have been handled on the “Ultimate” universe Earth has been interesting and inspiring – not just because its a New Frontier concept or a Fantastic Four concept but rather because it is a solid and well-written concept all around. I always look forward to see what statement Morden is making every week, though my favorite is no doubt when Reed is mulling over the idea that maybe he shouldn't return to his universe.
Best Character Development:
[@Lord Wraith] What everyone else said is pretty spot on. Thor's had a good journey so far and I'm curious to see how the pieces all fall in place. I think he's probably the character I'm most curious about in terms of the end of his starting arc, which is saying a lot since everyone here has brought their a-game.
Best Story:
[@Bounce] “I'm only a few solar cycles from retirement.” I jokingly uttered to Bounce in one of our chats. I think everyone can say the lanterns & justicars element is really working and he's put out a hell of a story. If you aren't caught up with it, I won't spoil anything, but it is a story that I absolutely adore. Bounce has tried his hand at this idea before, but I think in 2018 the story has finally become fleshed out and things have continued to be entertaining scene-to-scene.
Best Post:
[@Hexaflexagon] Hex is one of the writers on RPG who is pushing me to be better – and his Black Widow proves exactly why. I would say my personal favorite post of his take on Black Widow would be this one in particular.
The John Lees Memorial MVP Award*:
[@Master Bruce] Bringing back the Hype-style Superhero Sandbox RP's is no easy task. I've tried, Andy's tried, Wraith's tried and we've all pretty much had the same result with the games burning out within the first month (sometimes sooner). I'm not sure what black magic our caped crusader has in his batcave, but whatever it is it worked and I want some of it. To have a RP be this active, friendly, and committed is amazing. This isn't just dumb luck, either. Bruce has continued to push us to get our posts on time, communicate, and reviewed in a timely fashion. Ultimate DC may have teetered out in 2013, but I guess this is proof positive that the second try is sometimes better than the first.
