[@Inkarnate][@Feyblue] I’ve prepared two sheets, like I said in the other thread, so I'm ready to go with either as needed. Though, if they're acceptable, I'd prefer to go with the first of the two sheets if that fits with the final roster. These are my orders.

Personal Dossier

[sub]Name[/sub]
Karin Gensu
[sub]Age[/sub]
19
[sub]Gender[/sub]
Female
[sub]Origin[/sub]
Space Station C, EZ Aquarii AC, EZ Aquarii system
[sub]Appearance[/sub]
Serene and slender, Karin has graceful, almost dainty looks that belie her commanding nature. Her sharp, sepia-toned eyes tell the story, though, and they project a cool intelligence. She stands at a somewhat short 160 cm, though she won't let anyone look down on her, figuratively speaking. Her hair is black streaked with brown that is often in twintails, but she pins it up in an updo whenever she is piloting a Valkyrie. She also has a scar on her left ankle.
[sub]Personality[/sub]
Karin is a collected, mature woman who keenly understands the responsibilities of her station. She takes her studies and Valkyrie simulations seriously and carries herself with dignity. Towards others, she is amiable but undeniably firm in her speech and actions, only giving due deference to her military superiors as needed. However, she is hardly cold or aloof towards colleagues. Rather, she takes a lively interest in her Valkyrie partner and other members of Project Valkyria, in the sense that they are her responsibility to look after. Thus, Karin expects her Physical Coordinator to be less of a partner and more of a subordinate, faithfully carrying out her orders. She will brook a certain amount of disagreement, as it would be unwise not to, and she is not so arrogant as to think she will always have the right plan of action. However, she believes that she very often will, and so will rarely be dissuaded from her point of view without being thoroughly convinced otherwise. She also believes she has the intelligence to back that up on the battlefield, having taken very well to Valkyrie tactical theory and doctrine, though the rigors of piloting do take their toll on her. Naturally, she was assigned to be a Tactical Coordinator. Her deep sense of obligation and duty comes from being having to take care of others and herself from a young age. The easiest way to get on her nerves is to dismiss or disobey her, particularly when she believes she is only looking out for the best interests of the other person involved. Occasionally, this will mean that she will insist on protecting people from themselves. But sometimes, just sometimes, this means that she can reveal a more tender, sisterly side to her, though it's a side she hasn't shown for a long time. That said, it could be that this sense of duty is what Karin uses to mask a different side to her; this side, however, she hasn't revealed to anybody.
[sub]Background Information[/sub]
Karin began her life happily, born in 2708 on Space Colony C to two parents, her mother Yurin and father Oliss. They worked as station engineers, as Space Colony C was one of the many artificial space platforms built around the planet EZ Aquarii Ac around the AC stars to harvest water from the planet surface and generate energy from the stellar wind interactions with the circumbinary orbit of the planet, and the family enjoyed a relatively comfortable lifestyle. Soon they had another child, Karin's younger brother Toya. She took to taking care of her younger brother, enjoying her role as a good older sister. Though the Confederacy-Ascendancy war had been raging for decades by then, the trinary stars of the EZ Aquarii system were considered relatively safe. However, as the war reached a fever pitch, more and more people were conscripted as soldiers or Valkyrie support crew for the Terra Novan government to send to the front lines. Karin's father went away for the draft and the war drew closer to home than ever. Then, in 2717, the Confederacy launched its operation to recapture Sirius Prime, and the Ascendancy counterattacked. While the bulk of the fighting was at the second battle of Sirius Prime, the Ascendancy had launched a series of coordinated attacks and sabotages along with its main counterattack to obscure the object of their counterattack and divide the Terran military's attention. Space Colony C was one of those targets—agents planted for months, perhaps years beforehand suddenly carried out a violent occupation of the colony's command centers and critical facilities. The saboteurs began their attack in the middle of the day, the busiest time. Security officers clashed with saboteurs while the civilian populace attempted to evacuate to the shelters. Karin and Toya, who attended the same school, were being led away by their teachers to the shelters, but in the chaos of the attack the evacuation fell apart and the two siblings were separated from the other evacuees. As Karin led her brother, pulling him by the hand through one of the sealed thoroughfares that ringed the central hub of the station and led to the shelters, an explosion rocked the hallway. Though it didn't puncture the station walls, it was enough to bring down parts of the ceiling. Karin saw it and swung Toya ahead at the last possible moment, throwing him away from the danger, but the debris came down on her instead. Though Toya tried to remove the debris, some had pinned Karin's left ankle, trapping her. She urged Toya to run ahead to the shelter and, after initially hesitating, he reluctantly went. But after he passed halfway down the hall, he turned and ran back. Then a second explosion rang out. When Karin came to, she saw Toya some distance away, thrown by the explosion. He wasn't moving. It took the security officers another hour before they defeated the saboteurs and regained control of the facilities, sending personnel throughout the station to recover the wounded, one group of which freed Karin and unsuccessfully attempted to revive the unconscious but alive—at least, he had a pulse—Toya. Both were sent to the hospital and Karin was able to reunite with her mother, who had been on call until then as part of the emergency efforts to restore functionality to the station. The two of them learned of Toya's condition, that he had suffered a traumatic injury from the concussion that came with the blast wave, that he was comatose and unresponsive. Karin's mother begged the hospital to keep Toya on life support, but the costs were exorbitant. It wasn’t until a few days later that mother and daughter received the news that Karin's father had died in one of the many skirmishes that occurred in wake of the Confederate offensive. In recognition of his death in service, Karin's father was promoted a rank. The death gratuity and pension were enough to keep Toya in the hospital. In the aftermath of the victory at Sirius Prime, the Nova Terran government was emboldened to finish the war and issued another draft. This time, Karin's mother was swept into it, though she resisted as long as she could for Karin's and Toya’s sakes. Still, she was eventually called up, and just two years after Karin lost her father, Karin's mother died in a corner of the universe in one of the skirmishes of the waning war. That the combined gratuities and pensions from Karin's two parents was enough to keep Toya alive and allow her to eke out a living was of small solace to the young girl. After that, she became a ward of the state, one of many, and lived in an institution she cared little for, but which at least gave her a place to stay. However, when Karin she turned 18, her deceased parents’ pensions ended and so did her time at the institution. Karin knew that this was coming and had studied in preparation to attend an officer candidate school. Though there was no love lost between her and the military, there was nowhere else that would pay her enough to let her keep Toya's hospital room. At the time, she was given a certain aptitude test, though she had not known just what it was testing until some time later, when she was approached by an officer with the Nova Terran military. The officer introduced himself as Captain Zeran and offered her a placement in Project Valkyrie and the Taiyōtawa Interstellar Piloting Academy. For the pay they offered and the concession that the military would take care of Toya, she accepted.

Attributes & Other Information

[sub]Coordinator Type[/sub]
Tactical Coordinator
[sub]Coordination Profile[/sub]
Awareness | ■■■□□ Composure | ■■■□□ Endurance | ■□□□□ Instinct | ■■■□□ Intellect | ■■■■■

Please don't worry. At 168 cm he’s none too tall, and with his slight build he’s hardly physically imposing. More often than not his black hair, though straight, is left in an unbrushed mop, with hairs still sticking out all over from a night of sleep, and it is manageable only because it is kept short. However, he constantly has a disarming, modest smile, and his eyes are honest and unassuming. One could call him demure.
[sub]Personality[/sub]
Toya is steadfast, the type of person to offer a helping hand whenever one is in need. Modest, reserved, and kind, it may seem as if offering helping hands is how he spends all his time. However, regarding his personal conflicts, he has a tendency to underrate himself and simply give way when challenged, which make many consider Toya something of a pushover. His self-effacing nature does not help that judgment, though it does mean that whatever is said about Toya does not seem to particularly bother him. However, he is adamant on one point—he will pointedly refuse to allow anyone else to fight his battles or make sacrifices on his behalf, even when he readily does so himself for others. Toya interfaces remarkably well with a Valkyrie, on par with a TC, but his indecisiveness and demurring make him unsuited for the role. This does not mean that Toya has no opinions to give; however, he will only give it when prompted to do so. However, Toya is especially fit for the rigors of piloting as a Physical Coordinator, and all indicators, including self-reports, show a remarkable tolerance for the strain of synchronization. When Synchronizing, this means that Toya will passively accept the feelings of his Tactical Coordinator partner, subduing his own will to do so. In some ways, given the right partner, this can be a remarkably efficient set-up. It would be easy for a decent partner to cultivate an unconditional trust with Toya. However, without setting up proper expectations of what input Toya is meant to offer, this trust could easily become unreasonable, with Toya merely deferring to his partner in all things. While Toya has the potential to become a capable pilot, he relies on others for direction. Yet upon pointing out that his refusal to allow others to act on his behalf is hypocritical or other criticisms in that vein, Toya becomes uncharacteristically bristly. This could mean that Toya affects his self-effacing nature for personal reasons, though what that could be he has yet to reveal.
[sub]Background Information[/sub]
Toya was born in 2710 in Space Station C “Akazora”, as Space Colony C was one of the many artificial space platforms built around the planet EZ Aquarii Ac to harvest water from the planet surface and generate energy from the stellar wind interactions with the circumbinary orbit of the planet, to his father Oliss and mother Yurin, who worked as station engineers. His older sister Karin had been born two years previously, and she doted on him as they grew older. As Karin led Toya, pulling him by the hand, through one of the sealed thoroughfares that ringed the central hub of the station and led to the shelters, an explosion rocked the hallway, ripping a small hole into the station walls. Immediately the bulkhead doors started to close off the damaged areas, trapping the two siblings in one of the still sealed sections. However, the saboteurs had also seized life support and had stopped any emergency functions, including rerouting air to sealed bulkheads. Though the bulkhead remained pressurized, it was also not receiving any oxygen, as the two soon learned. Before the remaining air in the bulkhead was depleted, the two were able to obtain a chemical oxygen supply and mask from a nearby emergency compartment, still usable because the supply was self-contained. For hours, the two took turns breathing in the gas, but the battle outside continued unabated. Karin’s skin took on a pallor and steadily her lips blued until she passed out, to Toya’s shock. She had intentionally taken shallower and shallower breaths over time to leave more oxygen for Toya. Toya, too, was just out of air when suddenly air rushed into the bulkhead. The security forces had regained control of the central facilities and restarted the emergency life support systems, then began sending out personnel to recover the wounded. Karin’s pulse was weak and she was still unconscious when the security officers brought her and Toya to the hospital. There, Toya was able to reunite with his mother, who had been on call until then as part of the emergency efforts to restore functionality to the station. The two of them learned of Karin's condition, that she had suffered from cerebral hypoxia and was unresponsive.
