She was expected to sing in the choir every other Sunday, help her mother in the garden, clean up around the house, take care of her little brother, and prepare baked goods for her mother to sell at the market. 

Elizabeth has been looking forward to Rumspringa since she was thirteen years old; she is eager to explore unfamiliar places and learn new things. At the end of it all, however, she is unsure of whether or not she will want to return "home." On one hand, she desperately wants to lead a different life than what is already laid out for her. On the other, she is hesitant to leave behind the people who took her in when she had nothing and loved her more than anything in the world.[/indent]
