AP Calculus, one of her least favorite classes. She had her textbooks in her hands like the nerd she was, and earphones blasting the music she actually enjoyed.Yeah, the school drone actually like things that wasn’t school, big surprise, huh? She was minding her own business, maneuvering her way past people and lockers as she wanted to get to her class as fast as possible. The less time she spent out in the wild, she less likely she was going to be eaten alive by the various creatures that inhabited the school. Unfortunately, fate wasn’t on Allison’s side today. Bumping into someone, Allison dropped her books and her earphones had been yanked out of her ears. ”Oh! I’m sorry!” Allison bent over to pick her books. The girl who she bumped into just stood there and watched Allison pick her things up. She felt bad that she had to bump into someone, but did it really hurt to help? Allison sure picked the wrong person to bump into, not like she had a choice anyway. She had bumped into Devil Incarnate, Lillian Henry. Lillian just stood over Allison as she picked up her things. Why would she want to help this stupid girl out, anyway? Obviously she wasn’t too bright otherwise she wouldn’t have ran into her in the first place. Lillian shook her head. Freshmen, acting like they owned the place. Sounded like nobody taught them who actually ran this place. Lillian then kneeled down and started speaking to Allison. ”You need to watch where you’re going, and stay out of my way.” Lillian scoffed, as she stood back up, ”Not like little stupid freshmen like you know much anyway.” Allison stood up and she was looking at Lillian like she was speaking Chinese. What was she trying to say? Was this girl really trying to enact classism in a place where everyone was just trying to get their education? What was up with this girl? ”Dude! What’s up with you? I’m not dumb. You don’t even know me.” Lillian put a hand up to her heart and rolled her eyes. This girl really didn’t know anything. ”If you were smart you wouldn’t have ran into me.” Lillian smiled, knowing just how she could really hurt this girl. ”I’m surprised you can even remember things with how thick that skull of yours is and that fivehead you have reflecting everything and their mother.” Aries spent his typical days doing his best to ignore crap like what was happening right beside him. Ignore the school drama, and you wouldn’t be involved; that was what his dad had told him. What his dad hadn’t touched on was what to do when it was happening at literally the locker next to you. Aries Snyder had been, to the best of his ability, hiding behind his locker door. Unfortunately, there was only so much he could take, before he figured that someone had to check in and help the victim out. So much for ignoring it and enjoying life; thanks, dad (Aries, at this point, was blatantly ignoring a lesson from his father about helping out when people need it). He shook his head, pulling his aviator sunglasses out of the locker and letting them hang on the front of his shirt, and wondered if there was any other way to handle this situation than getting involved. An unfortunate question he already knew the answer to: a resounding no. He let out a sigh, and moved his head back, slamming the locker shut and turning to face Lillian and Allison both. “Why are you like this, Lillian? Jesus fucking christ.” He leaned his shoulder against the locker row and shook his head. “Like, you are such a BITCH. Just leave her alone, she bumped into you. News flash: nobody CARE. There’s like eighty million people in these hallways and they’re tight, it’s not like she fucking laser sighted you and purposely ran into you.” Here he was, playing defense force for a freshman. What a fantastic day. ”Oh fuck off, drummer boy. That’s the only thing you can bang, anyway.” Lillian looked at the musician that had come in like the dumbass he was and judged him with the force of a thousand suns. Well, she figured he wasn’t that smart in the first place. After all, he did decide that music was actually worth pursuing. Not like the term “starving musician” didn’t exist, right? ”Why should anyone listen to someone who just bangs on things for fun? You’re not much better than a toddler.” Allison only looked at the mysterious boy who’d come in outta nowhere. Well, there was something she’d like to bang. She said nothing as the focus was shifted to someone else. Good thing the heat was taken off of her. “I play guitar you idiot. Well, technically I play the drums too, but I’m soooo not okay with being labeled ‘drummer boy.’ Also, I’ll have you know that I happen to do very nicely with the ladies. Why don’t you go ruin someone’s day over there, huh?” Aries asked, and pointed down the hall. “Why you gotta piss in everybody’s Cheerios because your pride is fragile? You gotta bring everyone down with you, yeah? I know your type, you’re like a dime a dozen, so get to steppin’ before I start takin’ shots for the fragile parts.” He scoffed. “‘Drummer boy…’ Can’t believe I’ve been reduced to that. I am a musician for fuck’s sake.” Jesus, he was balls deep in this shit now, wasn’t he? Lillian was such a bitch, but he shouldn’t be getting os heated so quickly… Still, the other girl was just a freshman; she was young and probably was still adjusting to high school life, Aries knew it’d taken him almost a year and a half. She didn’t need one of the prime bitches laying into her like this. ”Musician, guitarist, who gives a fuck? Y’all gonna end up in the same place as tryhead freshmen like this girl. I don’t see why it’s important to make the distinction.” Lillian rolled her eyes, ”At least I actually have a future, unlike you two.” Lillian started walking away, ”Peace out, losers.” Lillian walked away, being the little bitch that she was. Once Lillian finally removed herself from the situation, Allison finally exhaled. She was free from the bitch that was known as ‘Lillian’, apparently. Tugging on the boy’s shoulders, she wanted to thank him for sticking up for her. Wasn’t very often that people did that. ”Hey… thanks for sticking up for me. You didn’t have to do that, you know. I appreciate it.” “Hey, no problem. My dad raised me to take care of people when they need it, and you needed it… so, there. Look, she’s a real bitch though — I can’t promise she won’t be back later to be a fucker some more. She’s just… an ass, to everyone she can be. Personally? I think she’s going through something, but I don’t know what. Maybe her parents suck…” Aries shrugged his shoulders, and gave the younger girl a smile, “still, no reason to pick on such a cute girl. My name is Aries.” ”Aries? Like the Astronomy sign? That’s cool!” Allison flashed a genuine smile. It was a nice change of pace from being berated by the living embodiment of Satan. ”I’m Allison… like well there’s nobody cool named Allison.” She shrugged, ”Has she always been like this? Is she the school’s resident bitch?” “Eeeeeyup. Just like the Astronomy sign. Allison is a good name, don’t sweat it. As for Lil? Well, I don’t know if I’d call her the ‘resident’ bitch. To be honest? We have like, a ton of bitches at this school. It sucks. If I were you, I’d find some nice friends your age and stick with them, because trying to go through high school by yourself? Well, that’s just gonna be lonely and you don’t wanna be lonely.” Aries’s words seemed reasonable to him. Being friendless was awful. ”Well.. I haven’t really had much luck finding friends. It’s just me and my phone half the time.” Allison shrugged, watching some more people pass. ”Well… on the bright side at least you have the honor of being one of the first people I meet here.” Allison had been too busy with her studies to focus on meeting people. She had acquaintances here and there but nobody she really called a friend. It was a hard time being Allison, all work and no play. “Well, hey man. Just try and get out there, you know? Never know who you might find. There are some alright people your age, this year’s freshman class ain’t all that bad. There’s you, there’s that Kit chick, there’s Henry Green’s Korean girlfriend… Not the old one, but the one. The old one is a sophomore, I think. I dunno.” Aries shrugged his shoulders, and put his hands in his pocket, shaking his head. “Well, anyway. I’m gonna take off now.” ”Who is Henry?” Allison asked curiously. All these names, but she failed to put a face to them. Watching him put his hands in his pockets, the boy was about to take off. ”Oh, okay. I’ll see you around, I guess.”
