Ashton Andrews Half of the ad-hoc group were acting calmer in this situation than expected. The Japanese kid did disregard his suspicions about the guards and law enforcement, but that was all right. The Scandinavian and the Asian were either panicking or thanking invisible gods for a second chance at life. As for he himself, things looked as if they were calming down... Which was a sign that things might - might - go to heck in a handbasket later on. Which they did. And as the Japanese boy died in front of him, his flesh freezing due to accelerated hypothermia, Ashton knew that he had to protect the others somehow, especially as the guy in the gas mask was now accusing them of being 'cultists' and 'Enemies of the State'. He opened his mouth to speak, just before two Demi-Humans, an Oni and an Angel (?) spoke up in their defense. Glaring at the Secret Police Member (?) Ashton tried to build on the momentum the group's defenders had given him and said, "What's going on, sir, is that we have been transported to this place, from our homes, by -" A sudden chill, and a rush of unnatural fear. And Ashton instinctively knew that things had gotten worse. His glare turning into frightened weariness, he continued, "By magic. Magic that I assume doesn't fit the normal rules, considering that we're a mystery to you. But sir, what I'm saying is the truth; what reason would we have to lie if we're facing sudden death?" He raised his arms in surrender. "We're just as ignorant as the rest of you as to how we suddenly appeared in the middle of a bustling city. Trust us, if we were cultists trying to subvert the state, we'd be running by now. As it is, I am surrendering, as a show of good faith." Ashton knelt down but kept looking up. "Do with me as you will; just treat my... Companions better."
