While her stile of dress is simple and her stature is not the most impressive one, the woman still manages to command her surroundings like no one would believe. Her presence of character is nothing to be laughed at even if her wardrobe is nothing fancy. But that's how Jefa likes it anyway. Utility is of way more value in her line of work, than fancy outfits. If push comes to shove, she cleans up nicely, but she will always feel more comfortable in her jeans, tank and boots... and maybe a greasy stain or two on her cheeks. Sometimes even to the point of being harsh. But having lived the life she has and endured her fair share of dark moments, she knows that at certain times you need more than backbone and a stiff upper lip to survive. She believes each personal is responsible for how they live their lives and what they do with them. She will help if you need help, but she will not hold your hand and baby you. She is more likely to teach you how to do it, than offer to do your job for you. She is not above sharing the hard lessons life has taught her. She is surprisingly kind and caring under the hardened exterior. People who get to know her well will find that bit about her. She is overprotective of children and any creature that is too weak to defend itself against the bullies of the world. But to get to that soft interior one must first endure the harsh, grumpy and often times sullen attitude of the woman. In professional capacity Carolina is unflinching and unwavering. Always competent and in control of the situation. To the point that it has earned her the nickname 'Jefa'. People know not to mess with her and those under her care. She doesn't hold grudges, but she won't let vile things go unpunished either. If you've wronged a person close to her you better make amends fast or Jefa will not forgive the transgression. That said Carolina is not a violent person by nature. She may chew you out, but will never resort to physical punishment. Well, she makes an exception for the most vile and depraved individuals out there. An older man of ill repute and a nasty drinking habit. One night as the group had set up camp and almost everyone had fallen asleep in their tents Carolina was making sure the city dwellers hadn't left anything out in the open that would attract the attention of the wild life. It was then that a sweaty mitt had clamped itself down on her mouth and nose and a blobby, stinky body had dragged her some ways away from the campsite. She hadn't been able to call out and when that old, disgusting man had released her mouth, they'd been too far away for anyone to hear her cries for help. And cry she did! And scream and scratch and bite. For the girl knew what was about to happen and she was not going to let it happen without a fight. And just as she was kicking and screaming in utter desperation, suddenly it was the blobby, stinky, grubby, horrible excuse for a man that started screeching in pain as blood ran out of his eyes and nose and ears. And he was off Carolina in a flash and slumped down on the forest floor screaming and screaming, until he fell silent. After that incident Carolina started noticing her ability to exert control over pressure. General History: Carolina grew up as an orphan on the streets of Cajamarca, Peru. She was abandoned as a baby on the footsteps of a small church operated orphanage. The nuns didn't have much to work with in terms of government funding, but they made due with donations and volunteer work by people from the neighborhood. The children grew up on a diet of simple meals and hand-me-down clothes. But they never lacked for kindness as the nuns devoted their lives to the children in the orphanage. Still, the life of an orphan was not an easy one and especially considering the state of the country, with corruption rampant and civil rights severely restricted. Luckily for Caro, one of the volunteers at the orphanage took her under his wing. A middle-aged Aymara Indian mechanic, who did odd jobs around the orphanage. He was the first to recognize the blanket Caro had been wrapped in as a baby, as being of Aymara make. From there on the two were inseparable and the only reason Inti did not make steps to adopt Caro officially was that he had no wife and lived alone the simple life of a mechanic. He did not had the resources to take care of a little girl, but in every other aspect he became an adoptive father to little Carolina. When she became a teenager he kept her off the streets by allowing her to work on the cars in the shop with him. Although she loved doing it anyway and would not trade it for anything else. Still, growing up, the young girl became conscious of the resources it took to raise children and the hardships the nuns faced every day. So young Carolina began doing odd jobs here and there, since Inti couldn't pay her a mechanic's salary. Eventually Caro received her first job as grunt work on an archaeological expedition. The group needed porters and people familiar with the area and Carolina jumped on the opportunity. This continued for a number of years with Caro splitting her time between working as cheap labor on various expeditions within the rainforest, fixing cars with Inti and learning the trade, and keeping up with her homeschooling the nuns gave the orphans. By the time Carolina was twenty-five she was a competent mechanic, with years of practical experience. She was also a well known wilderness guide with good reputation. And the nuns had done their best to impart the orphans with the necessary knowledge to get them through life. Caro was a bright, hardworking, young woman. She loved the nuns who had cared for her all her life and adored Inti, her unofficial adoptive father. By the time Carolina'd hit 37, she was known as a no-nonsense, hardcore wilderness guide who got the job done and had never lost a single member of the expeditions she led into the rainforest. She was harsh and unyielding, but people knew she would keep them safe and would not lead them astray. And whenever Caro was not playing around in the Amazon, she worked on cars in the shop with a now getting up there in age Inti. She also donated her time freely to the orphanage and helped the nuns with money and whatever else she could.
