[sub][color=firebrick]BACKGROUND:[/color][/sub][hr][b]Prior to signing up with the Republic Military, James spent his early life in and out of trouble with law enforcement and local gang culture on Paladia, a 'slum world' for lower class citizens. His father was a law enforcement officer killed when he was 9, his mother was a housewife pregnant with his 9-years younger sister at the time. The event caused her to transition into a violent drunk, tempered only by the birth of her daughter. Faced with violent abuse at home and rampant gang crime outside of it, he was inevitably absorbed into the latter. Multiple criminal convictions: possession of a Class-A controlled substance, possession of a bladed weapon and possession of a firearm. Suspected to be responsible for at least three homicides, but cases were dropped after a lack of evidence. Enlisted at the local recruitment branch no less than 4 days after his 16th birthday, the minimum age threshold for basic training. He used military service as an escape from a broken home.[/b][hr][sub][color=firebrick]COMBAT EXPERIENCE:[/color][/sub][hr][b]Having Enlisted right at the cusp of the Federal Secession war, James wasn't afforded any additional training as he was pushed through basic training and into active service as soon as he was able. Intially deployed as part of the 24th Strike Battalion, known colloquially as the Republic's Meat grinder for its startlingly high mortality rate, He spent multiple tours in some of the most gruesome conflicts of the early years of the war, including the failed Siege of Nosck, the Fall of New Volo and the Federal Invasion of Thane.

Most Notable of these was the Fall of New Volo, during which a surviving officer noted his effectiveness with a stolen MORITA SR20-D while covering retreating allies. This was again noted on Thane, and a formal request was made by his CO for specialist Marksman Training. Upon completion of this training, he was formally reassigned to the 201st Special Operations Division, where he further proved his skill with a sniper rifle. He was typically attached to a partner or small fireteam, tasked with infiltration of enemy lines and the elimination of HVTs. Notable Kills include Rodrick Steinman, Fleet Commander of the Federal 2nd Fleet and Lieutenant Colonel Haytham Waters, the Federation commander responsible for the extensive campaign against Republic forces along the Polaris Front. He has also been linked to multiple Black-ops missions pertaining to the assassinations of high-profile non-combatants and defectors, but all information is restricted beyond anything but High Command. The effectiveness of his unit and his own outstanding kill record lead to an officer of Republic High Command to once refer to him as 'their own personal Grim Reaper'.

With the loss of ODIN Technology to the enemy and subsequent shift of focus into ODIN Combat, the 201st was one of many existing outfits that was re-organised into ODIN Classification. Other than the alterations to deployment method and subsequent equipment changes, their operational objectives were largely unchanged. During the closing months of the war, it was noted upon review of his service record that a soldier of his calibre would normally be many several ranks higher, but his aggressive nature, disregard of military authority and blatant distain for the Republic in general was resultant in being passed over for promotion a large number of occasions. The same goes for his lack of decoration, as the few accolades he had gained had been awarded when Command had no excuse not to.

With the recent formation of joint ODIN Divisions, James was freely able to adjust to the change of alliances as he had no personal views on the Federation or it's citizens. He held no resentment to them during the war, simply seeing them as another notch on his rifle, and after the treaty was signed they simply became another face next to him on the parade line, and the aliens became the new notches on his rifle.[/b][hr][sub][color=firebrick]PERSONALITY:[/color][/sub][hr][b]Outside of Combat, James comes across as dismissive and stand-offish. He distances himself from his fellow soldiers, and seems to hold no form of attachments to any of them. He can also display long bouts of aggression when he feels that he is being threatened or interfered with. He has a notable lack of respect for those superior in rank, and only acknowledges their command to avoid disciplinary actions. Despite all of these things, however, he has shown to care about his fellow soldiers to a certain degree.

In combat, he is noted to be cold and efficient to the point of near-emotionlessness. This makes him an effective soldier, but also negatively impacts his ability conduct 'hearts and minds' types of missions. He has no distinct morality and will far more often value the mission over the lives of the men around, but mercy isn't a foreign concept to him. He will often mercy-kill a suffering ally with no chance of recovery, to alleviate them of that suffering. [/b]
