Suddenly he was gone. No help offered after the ordeal she had been through. She frowned at the empty space above her and cried. Idiot. Leaving her to fend for herself in a land she did not know. She allowed herself some hours of rest, leaning against the tree and snoozing. When her energy returned she began to wander the forest again but with much less panic. For now, it seemed to be her domain. Thank goodness she had been invited to hunting with her family. That the sort of shows they had enjoyed were something of survival. She prayed a small thank you to Bear Grills and Steve Irwin as she built a lean-to against some trees. The false sun was beginning to fade as she created a fire to help keep her warm through the night. There was no telling what the aliens had planned for her. The only thing she could say for certain there was no way she would drink her own piss. The stream she had found was likely to have clean water, considering what she assumed was her own value. She drank freely from the cool water and managed to noodle a fish to cook. She ate of the meat of a being she did not recognize but enjoyed the familiar flavor of smoked fish over flame. She had been in a predicament such as this before though not as dire. Left to her own devices she felt more confident with each hour. --- She had managed to sleep soundly through the night. She had slept beneath her lean-to and the fire's warmth was trapped beneath the sticks and leaves from its close proximity. As the "sun" rose she stretched and found that she had caught a squirrel-like creature in a trap. She mourned its death but was delighted to eat the red meat it offered her. She could live here. Willa's knowledge of nature made sure of that. She wondered if a city girl would have the same luck as she pulled the meat from squirrel haunch with her teeth.
