He can comfortably work with almost any wrestler, and is a ‘ring general,’ that is to say he typically takes control in the ring and calls spots and moves. Backstage, he will build the match from the ground up with his opponent, often times without the help of a road agent; he’s trusted by Roderick to put on the proper match. For the past five years, he’s consistently squeezed a 4-star match out of even the lesser skilled opponents he wrestles, and when he truly has chemistry with someone, the match will easily be 4.75 or 5 stars. He has a ring psychology like none other. Drayden builds his story on the mic with his opponent, then tells it in the ring. He has big moves that he uses commonly, but for the most part works around what his opponent is capable of. Very big, protected move.) |Theme | » Derp |Gimmick | » Drayden is himself turned up to 11, simply. Funny when the time is right, serious when the time isn’t, and passionate about this business. He not only has been the pinnacle of this business for nearly 8 years, he knows it, and he tells his opponents that: they need to respect him, because he is the man they wish they could be. To have a match with Drayden is a possibility to build yourself up, to beat him is a way to let people know that you could potentially be the next big thing. |Face or Heel | » Face to nearly everyone, some people are sick of him and boo his ass, but he loves it. Often times during his matches, there are chants of ‘Fuck ‘em up, Drayden, fuck ‘em up.’ |Backstage Rep | » Generally well received backstage, the only people who seriously don’t like him are those who are jealous of his position as Roddy’s golden boy. He’s open to suggestions from the other wrestlers on what he can do to improve, and is happy to guide those who have potential but are green to greater heights. Very much a locker room leader, whenever he has a match with someone he sees a future in, he’ll do his best to make them look like a million fucking bucks, regardless of who wins or loses, and he usually does a good job of that. As an excellent promo, Drayden is good at building his opponents up too, and has had legendary verbal throwdowns with people who are as good as he is on the mic. Natural charisma and a general air of ‘good guy’ has led most people backstage to have a good opinion of him. Roddy knows he captured lightning in a bottle with Drayden, as the man is happy to do charity work, and up until just the last few years, was on the road 300 days a year putting on show after show — he has recently stopped showing up for shows that aren’t broadcasted on television. When he leaves for real, they’re screwed. AWE’s franchise player since 2006. |Other | » I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. He loves it, and he loves being that close to the action; even if he himself can’t wrestle due to injuries sustained when he was younger. He never wants to let this job go. |Looks & Style | » Wade dresses pretty professionally when he’s out at the desk, but is a bit more lax when off-screen and backstage, often times going so far as to wear the merchandise the company produces. Dude, he’s a fucking mark. |Personality Traits | » Wade’s a bit of a geek, there’s no way around it. From the way he weaves pop-culture references into his commentating, to the way he spends almost all of his free time watching wrestling tapes and absorbing as much of the sport as he can, not just AWe, he’s a geek. Through and through. Wade has an almost childlike adoration for the sport and its performers, it’s no secret that when he was younger it was his goal to become one of the greatest wrestlers of all time; that dream unfortunately fell through after an injury sustained while working one of his first matches after a boot camp. Wade had a severe concussion that made it simple to him and doctors: his body was not cut out for this job. So he chased the next best thing: commentating. This is both a good and a bad thing; while it robbed a young man, aged 17 at the time of the incident of his dream, it gifted the wrestling world one of the most passionate and energetic commentators of all time. Wade Palmer’s voice is almost irreplaceable at the desk alongside his two newer partners. Wade has a tendency to bring snacks to the commentating desk, and is almost constantly drinking water to keep his voice from giving out. |Favorite wrestler | » [s]Trinity[/s] Caiden Winters |Rep at AWE | » Wade traveled the world at the tender age of 18, calling matches everywhere from the bingo halls and high school around the American indie scene, to the main event of the Tokyo Dome. He has a mind and a knack for this business like none other, and it has only built and built throughout his adventures. He found a permanent home at AWE almost five years ago, where he took over the desk from a team of older commentators who were ready for retirement. Disregarding the occasional company of a wrestler, Wade Palmer called the shows solo for years, until Roddy came to him with a proposition: transitioning into a backstage role, where his knowledge for the business could be utilized properly: the director of talent relations, and a powerful level of control in the booking of the company. However, like all good things, this comes with a catch: Wade has to train his replacements, two men he was allowed to handpick. For just over a year, Wade has been calling matches not alone, but with two people he is honored to call his co workers, and proud to call his friends. When Wade feels the pair is ready to take over for him, he’ll transition to a backstage role, though he’ll always be with them in spirit and… well, in their ear pieces. He isn’t going to let them tarnish what he’s built, after all! Generally speaking, Wade is well liked and respected for his berth of knowledge, and is often looked to for tips to improve, despite not being a wrestler himself. He has a little of column A and a little of column B, even some of column C. Largely trained in Japan, he has a certain flair to his style borrowed from all around the world, and it allows him to mesh well with everyone on the roster. You want to have the best match of your life? Look no further, he’ll pull it out of you. Or at least, he most likely will, there’s always a small chance that it flops. For some reason, though, the powers that be in AWE don’t see this in him, and he’s always having to prove himself. Despite the cheers he gets from working matches so hard, Caiden doesn’t care. He wants to win championships and prove to EVERYONE, not just the stupid marks who tune in every week that he is the BEST in this business. He is the best in that ring, he is the best on that microphone, even on commentary, nobody can touch him. Nobody. And he’s been the best since day one when he walked into this company, and he pinned Roddy Quinn’s pet project Drayden 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring CLEAN. No cheating, no outside interference; hell they didn’t even leave the ring for it. But did he get rewarded with a title shot? No. Caiden Winters and his debut victory against Drayden — something that hadn’t been done before him, hasn’t been done since — went straight to the mid-card, for over a year and a half before he finally got his championship shot against Drayden, where he wasn't able to put him away. Despite not being able to beat Drayden for the World Title, Caiden is… really, really really really good. He’s clean in the ring, decent on the mic, and able to turn the initial babyface cheers he gets upon his entrance into loud boos with just a few words and gestures. The face turn is coming eventually. And it will be huge. |Face or Heel | » Heel |Backstage Rep | » A common word used to describe Caiden by his coworkers is 'distant.' It isn’t inaccurate, he’s not exactly the most social of the roster. He keeps to himself for the most part, always very focused on what happens during the show, and always doing his best to ignore most of the backstage politics. However, once someone presses through his initial barriers, the words used to describe him morph from ‘distant’ to ‘quiet,’ or ‘reserved.’ Caiden is very private about his personal life, and tends to mostly stay off of social media, other than character work he does on Twitter, for example. He doesn’t have much for friends backstage, though the people he works with are always happy to wrestle a match with him, knowing that it will be fantastic from start to finish. Ideally, he would like to open up and be less… shy; the fact of the matter is this: in his two years working here, Caiden Everett hasn’t made any friends. He’s kind of lonely, extremely shy, and often times lost. He has his own dressing room, though it’s usually smaller than the other private ones. He keeps in contact with friends from Japan, where he was largely featured before working in AWE; and though he worked in the British circuits, and even a few Mexican companies, his main ‘friend group’ is in Japan. Caiden fluently and confidently speaks English, Japanese, and French (first language), and can stutter his way through a conversation in Spanish; though he’d never cut a promo in it. A little work and a little polish, and he’ll make a fine face of the company; someone just needs to forcibly drag him out of his apparent shell. In charge of building characters for everyone, booking shows where everyone looks good, and making sure that promos are sufficient. |Skills | » He has a degree in screenwriting, and one in creative writing. He’s very good at making storyboards, and in his office he always brings whiteboards that he constantly draws things out on, to help him make sense of things and keep consistency in his stories. He’s a fan of long-term storytelling, consistency, and continuity, a laundry list of things that before his time were completely foreign to the company. Because of these things, Kevin has secured not only the head writer position, but has earned the respect of Roddy and his peers — to the point that Kevin was allowed to handpick his creative team. |Reason for being here | » Deep down, this is always where he wanted to be. Originally after his graduation from college, Kevin Harrison’s plan was to find a producer who would accept the screenplay he’d written for an original TV show, chasing the constant revenue stream and security a TV deal would provide him. However, after about a year out of college searching for a job in Hollywood, he gave up and instead applied to AWE as a member of the writing team. Once there, he slaved away for over two years, before he got… well, he got lucky and was given an opportunity: half the writing staff left, and Roddy’s only choice was to promote Kevin to lead. He took this chance, and run with it. In the seven months since he took this position, the writing has been lauded critically, and every character seems to have a purpose and a place on screen. All of the different times the fans get REALLY into it? Kevin Harrison’s direction and ability to formulate stories for everyone on his roster is at the heart of it. And he loves it! He’s never gonna leave, they’re gonna have to drag him out of his office with a damn crane. |Looks & Style | » Homeboy look like a fucking geek, dude. He dresses in whatever’s comfy, often times just clothes he grabs from the merchandise truck, and almost always wearing a hoodie. He puts on a suit once every couple weeks for official meetings with the board of directors, but even when meeting directly with Roddy, Kevin will dress down. He’s a writer, not an executive. |Personality Traits | » Kevin Harrison is undeniably good at what he does, but Roddy and the rest of the old guard would describe him as ‘unorthodox.’ The idea of storyboards… no the idea of consistent, real character development is insane to them. In their day, when Roddy did everything himself, before he’d learned to delegate, characters were developed once and rarely ever evolved, if Kevin continues to have his way, every member of the roster will evolve and change as they keep going. He does his best to be approachable. For the most part, he’s firm in his booking decisions, but he is open to hearing things from the talent, especially if they have any ideas for repackaging. In his mind, everyone should be getting over to a certain extent. If the crowd is completely dead, something is completely wrong and it’s probably going to be completely his job to fix it. Despite the fact that he’s engaged, Kevin considers himself married to his job, and he’s almost always working or thinking about it. |Favorite wrestler | » Joy Ryder. Does she count? She should; she helps him get talent over and helps them build a bit of a character out there. Deserves a spot at the top of the list more than any of those spot monkeys... |Rep at AWE | » Very, very well liked. A lot of people owe their crowd reactions to Kevin, he’s helped them build their characters, and helped give them a place on the card. Before him, writing focused on a few key players, and the rest of the roster was just there as a build up to the main event, after him, even the undercard is well liked. It’s not an exaggeration to say his writing has saved a few jobs in AWE, keeping Roddy from releasing people who just weren’t getting over no matter what. Kevin is also much more approachable than his predecessor, always leaving a note on the segment list saying that if there are any questions, come and see him in his office, and he’ll answer anything. He’s also much more open to suggestions, and if someone has a good idea for a tweak to their character, he’ll at least do them the courtesy of listening. Being good in the ring will not get you over. The plan? Give him a manager. Can you handle that, Dylan? Can you stand in one place while someone makes you out to be a badass? I bet you can, lad. Certain people think he’s here too early, others think he’ll never make it. Some think he’s genuinely a nice guy (which is true, ask his puppy); but others still are just intimidated by his huge size. The simple fact of the matter is he’s barely been traveling with the roster for just under two months is he hasn’t been here long enough to build a backstage reputation. However, he is often at their events and is friends with more than a few wrestlers and backstage employees. He is a wrestling journalist and posts stories as they come and go, and reviews the shows and matches. He reacts accordingly based on how he feels the company is performing, and has no qualms calling out a wrestler or wrestlers for having a shit match, cutting a shit promo, or calling out the powers that be for making their fucking look like goddamn geeks. |Skills | » Smooth talking » Tech savvy » Dadskills » Radio host-esque silky smooth voice » Good at ranting |Reason for being here | » When he was younger, in 2001, Daniel Church had a brilliant idea in his school computers class: he’d build a fucking website. Now, the first thing you had to do when building a website, was pick something you were passionate about… at the time, Danny Church was only really passionate about one thing: PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING. Even at the young age of fifteen, DC had a brilliant mind for coding and built a website that was grand, even for the times. It gained a following, and the forums on it exploded in popularity as the tape traders and more hardcore fans finally found a place to talk and get their opinions out there. The Smark Remark, the website is known as, and it’s only grown since its original inception in mid-2001. Danny made friends with the right people, and after high school, he passed the day-to-day management of the website over to a team of administrators and moderators. The man himself began a focus on the content creation for the website. He hosted podcasts with wrestlers from all over the world, and he began to rate matches. Every show he saw, either live or on a tape he bought, he rated the match. Over time, his ratings and opinions got a little controversial, with people arguing about whether he was right or wrong, but he there was one thing they agreed on: he was consistent. He also wrote reports on rumors that he heard, and posted opinions and frequently participated in conversations on the message boards. Four years after graduating, when Danny was 22, his then girlfriend, Clarissa Whitaker, gave birth to his two beautiful children. Twins, a boy and a girl. Robert and Cynthia, Bobby and Cyn. His babies and his life — other than work. They are turning ten in January of next year, and attend an online school to make it easier on Daniel to travel around for his job. They haven’t seen their mother since they were two; as it turns out, their mother was… crazy, to say the least. After Daniel discovered her drug habits and realized she was a poison in his life, he cut her out and got full custody of his children. Since then, the single dad life has been the life for him. Working and taking care of two rascals isn’t exactly the easiest lot in life, but… he makes it work. When he was called up by Walter Durrel, who proposed combining their two mediums a few years ago, DC jumped on the opportunity. Together now, they put out podcasts reviewing AWE mostly, as that’s Walter’s preferred company. In return, Danny Church offers the Smark Remark’s website as a new home for the Wrestling Journal. They make a surprisingly good team so far. |Looks & Style | » Decked out from head to toe in wrestling gear, Danny doesn’t give a FUCK about how people think of him in public. He’s a hardworking single father, get bent. He’ll sometimes match or contradict his children when they go to the shows — both of his kids are huge fans too. |Personality Traits | » Danny is brutal and quick to be critical. He doesn’t listen to the reasons for things sucking and just accepts that they suck. If a wrestler isn’t working at their full capacity because of injuries? Whatever, stop fucking working. Utilize your roster, people. He’s fun to talk to, and is good at telling stories and ranting and making other people who agree with him happy. He often gets into long winded debates on his podcast with Walter, but as a person Danny honestly looks forward to it every night. Deep down, he’s just a mark, dude. He loves wrestling, everything about it from the ground up is amazing, and he can’t get enough. The fact that he built something great out of his love for wrestling amazes him to this day, and the Smark Remark is his baby. He enjoys posting on the message boards to this day, and recording the weekly podcasts is something he lovingly looks forward to every day. It’s his second baby, the thing he loves most right behind his children. |Favorite wrestler | » Caiden goddamn fucking Winters, fuck you Roddy for burying the best wrestler to ever grace this goddamn planet. And Retribution. Daniel is loud, brash, and he doesn’t care about calling them out if they do something stupid. If you botch one goddamn move you better believe DC will roast the fuck out of you. You lose a match looking like a geek and hate it? Too goddamn bad, Danny Church knows full well you’re a NERD and you’ll never live it down. But, he’s undeniably good at the job, and they actually take his ratings seriously. The few wrestlers that Danny fanboys about are quite fond of him, and he does a good podcast that wrestlers try to take advantage of. It can just be hard to deal with someone that’s going to call out every little mistake you make, even when it’s more blamed on the booking team than yourself. He also has a tendency to post rumors about who’s going to win or lose a match, and rarely checks the validity of his source. Unlike his partner, Walter, Daniel Church is not a journalist. He’s angry millennial who thinks Roderick Quinn is ruining his goddamn favorite thing by blowing Drayden and giving him everything he asks for. This doesn’t stop every member of the locker room from obsessively checking his reviews, though. Even Roddy does it. She works closely with Joy, and will eventually take the second spot at Aftershock alongside her friend. |Skills | » Let’s start with the basics: Justice has a nice voice. Does that sound basic? Well, that makes sense… because it is. It really started like that, having a nice voice. That was the only reason she was offered the job in the first place — it was on the recommendation of Joy Ryder that she applied for the job, and it was to the shock of herself that she got it. Following that, she’s actually pretty good at this whole interview thing — maybe it’s from years of watching the AWE on television, but she has a way with talking to these people. She asks the right questions to generate the right answers to generate the proper amount of views. Why views? Because she does, specifically, the online interviews, things that they didn’t have a spot for on the main weekly card. |Reason for being here | » Her best friend works here, she gets to be on TV, and all of these people are so… hot. |Looks & Style | » She wears cute clothes, generally. She doesn’t try TOO hard, but is capable of maintaining a steady balance between cuteness and usability. She also tends to really like overalls — part of her grandfather’s influence, but hey. Whatever. |Personality Traits | » Attentive > Talkative > Charming > Overbearing > Nosy > Childish |Favorite wrestler | » Barbie, I loves me a good bitch. Hector, spooky is good. Drayden, what? He’s the ace, of course I like him. And Oscar, too! Dope dude. |Rep at AWE | » She’s too new to have that much of a reputation. She keeps up a pretty damn good facade of being a bright, bubbly, lovely little girl. So, so far, so good. Mordecai his with devastating moves that look violent and real. He isn’t here to win matches and he isn't afraid to lose matches via disqualification or to win them via referee stoppage. There is no true method to his madness. He works stiff and hard. Is he the best ring worker to ever grace the AWE? No, but he’s 25. Give it time. A supernatural gimmick, the character has a certain feel to him that hasn’t been around in proper force since the Ghost Ryder and the Faceless themselves roamed the hallowed halls. Mordecai claims that he has come to help those fans who have become blind to the truth, that through his work in the ring, he will guide them to the light. His promos are mystical and almost rambly in nature, but he speaks the truth and no one questions. Mordecai promises, again and again, that he will bring balance back to the AWE, and that he will banish the fallen gods who once claimed they were all powerful — for now, it is he that holds all the cards. Hail to the king. Though she sometimes stays back, Mordecai is often accompanied to the ring by his queen and his wife, Amore. Her character is that a brainwashed woman, one who bought into the cult of personality that is Mordecai, perhaps unwillingly at first — but Stockholm Syndrome… is a sunovabitch. |Face or Heel | » Heel |Backstage Rep | » A lifelong fan of the AWE, for the last three years, Benjamin Kennedy has been living his dream. He’d always wanted to be a wrestler wrestling anywhere. The fact that he’s wrestling in the AWE is just mindblowing, and not a day goes by where he doesn’t wake up and smile about it. Almost four years ago now, took him every last cent in his meager bank account to transport him from his home in Houston, Texas to Orlando, Florida for tryouts at the AWE Performance Center, where all the talent was developed and trained. While he wasn’t very experienced, wasn’t the most fit and ripped person at the tryouts… Benjamin had the it factor, the elusive charisma that made Heath Ryder decide to take the leap of faith with him. Was it worth it? The honest answer is no, not yet. While Ben has proven to be a sponge for knowledge and has worked with everyone that goes through developmental… he seems to flounder, and it wasn’t until this past six months that he started hitting his stride, with the Mordecai character. He’s set to be called up very soon alongside his wife. Very nervous. But very, very excited. |Other | » 818487 » Tom Hardy » Notably met his wife during his second year of developmental. Against the wishes of both of their families, they were wed just under seven months after meeting in Vegas, overnight, without telling anyone. It was not a fun day when their parents found out. So far, so good. Ben has been quoted as describing their relation as a ‘passionate whirlwind.’ To his friends, he tells the truth: they had crazy sex in the performance center less than two hours after first laying eyes on each other, and it was true love — not at first sight, but at first feel.
