[colour=yellow][b]Brief History:[/b][/colour] The Holy Territories of Edoniras started life as a collection of smaller city-states and minor counties united in their following of his holiness, the Pope, who occupied the Bishopric of Edo. (Essentially a pseudo-HRE) However, following a series of foreign invasions and political pressure, the independent states each accepted the secular - as well as religious - authority of the Pope over their land. As each state joined the Holy Territories of Edoniras, its own local government was maintained and then given a place in the Holy Chamber, a council of leaders each representing the interests of their region to the higher authority of the Pope. In time, this council was slowly disempowered until total authority remained with the Pope and the body of the Holy Chamber was nothing more than advisory than parliamentary.
