She can be a bit rough to talk to sometimes, and doesn't apologise for it, but even when insulting someone, she usually tries to do it in a comical way. Laughter is her default defense against pain and depression. Nikita used to make friends fairly easily, not being particular to any click of people. After being rejected by her parents, however, she had developed some trust issues. She has done well at working out of those since arriving at the school, but new people still make her nervous. Nikita has a quick wit, and a forked tongue in a good mood, but when she is left alone and bored for too long, she tends to brood on her past and her possible death. It's pretty easy to tell when she is in one of those moods too, as she says very little to anyone. Her father had always wanted a boy, so when they had a girl, and couldn't have anymore, Nikita's father put her in that role instead. She grew up tending to the animals, which included a dozen chickens, a pair of geese, a pig, a turkey, a sheep, a horse (the only animal that was actually hers), and 8 dogs. She was also taught to hunt and fish, as her father's way of trying to bond. It didn't work for him, and he eventually quit going,, but she continued. She was homeschooled, isolated, and miserable. Luckily, her mother was a former highschool teacher, so her education was exceptional. Unfortunately, once the chores and homework were done, Nikita had nothing to do. Nikita used this time to explore the nearly untouched wilderness of the middle of Texas. She used to pretend she was a warrior princess, using sticks as swords, as she ran through forests and across the dry open plains. When her father died, her mother sold all the animals, and began to teach again at a school nearly an hour away. Unable to teach her anymore, her mother was forced to enroll Nikita in the school she was teaching at. It pained her mother to do it, but it was the highlight of Nikita's life. She didn't get to hang out with her friends, which she made quickly, but every day at school was like a social club for her. She made friends with everyone who would talk to her, adopted click stereotypes, settled on a mix of Country and Goth, and settled in as the class clown, though maintained her straight A average. Then the accident happened. Nikita was leaving school one day, laughing and joking with her friends. One of the school buses lost control and plowed into the small group of girls. And slamming them into the side wall of the school. Nikita remembered nothing after the initial touch of the bus, except for a vague feeling of fear and peace at the same time. It took two days before she became self aware enough to try to wake up, and when she did, she found herself unhurt, laying on the ground in front of the damaged wall of the school. With grim fascination, Nikita watched as people's reactions to her being alive changed. Most were relieved... At first. Then as time went on, the shock wore off, and her powers began to manifest more often, things changed for the worst. They became scared of her, resentful, some even hated her for surviving while all her friends died. The hardest part, however, was when her mother stopped being able to hide how she felt. One night, after a brutal day at school of being shunned, mocked, teased, and flat out insulted, Nikita broke into tears as she spilled everything to her mother. Instead of comforting her daughter, she began defending the other students. It was the last straw for Nikita, and she left her house that night, never to return. She took what little she could fit in her camping backpack, and headed in the vague direction of north east. She had wondered the woods long enough to know how to survive, but had no money. She taught herself how to shoplift, using her powers only in desperation, or on the few times she almost got caught. She ran into trouble a few times, being a young girl, alone, wondering the streets at night, but between her powers and her gun, she managed to keep herself alive
