Once they were gone and the store was empty once more Rae sighed in relief. Quickly she went back to preparing the animals for the long cold night before finally finding herself drifting off among them from exaustion. ***A few days later*** Rae Ann stretches as she steps back into her own apartment. She had seen so little of it the last five days coupled with the fact she has only been in the city a few weeks to begin with it was almost as if she were walking into a stranger's home. The plain walls and floor mixed with the sparse furniture and decor gave the place an empty feel especially afters 5 days of double shifts. The owner came in first thing Thursday morning with a truck load of fancy camping gear and essentially stayed with her the rest of the weekend. Very few of the other employees arrived for their shifts throughout the storm so Rae stayed using one of the cots that the owner had brought in the meantime. By Monday however the main roads were clearing and he decided that with all the overtime she had put in that she needed to go home. "Take the week off." He told her. "You've earned it." Clapping her on the back he sent her home. Looking around she could tell by the blinking clock on her microwave that she had lost power at some point in the storm. Stepping up to the fridge she sighed before pulling it open. There hadn't been much in it but what had been looked bad. The freezer luckily had already re frozen everything but judging by the ice cream power had been out a while. 'Oh well, meat and canned veggie stu it is.' filling a large pot with water she threw in all the meat in her freezer and several cans of varying vegetables. Tossing in some seasons she set the eye to its lowest setting and laid down for a nap. By the next morning the sky looked clear. There was still a load of left oversee from the day before but shopping would need to be done. Rae was tired though, not for sleep but for soul. The week off ahead of her seemed full of magic especially as she gazed out at the sparkling white wonderland laid out beyond her window. Looking at her coffee table she spotted a flyer for a music club which she had applied to during her first few days. Looking it over she smiled dressed and locked up heading to the swan song. She made it with only the minorest amount of fishtailing and a mild amount of heart palpitations. Rae Ann wasn't sure she would ever be comfortable driving in this kind of weather. Settling herself she ordered a warm drink and found a relatively secluded booth near one corner. Sliding in she pulled off her heavy coat setting it aside and opened a small paperback novel, relaxing.
