Masking her face was an innocent, neutral look of intent, but her mind had been in a completely different place since she'd finished packing her things the night before. There was a certain gleam in Elizabeth's eye when she daydreamed about all of the places she'd eventually get the chance to visit, the exotic foods she'd get to taste, or the new things she'd get to learn. Truth be told, Elizabeth was ready to spread her wings and take on New York City with her group of childhood friends; never in a million years, however, would she even think about admitting this horrible truth to her family. "You are going to come back home, right Lizzy?" John King, Elizabeth's seven year old brother, had asked her the night before as she folded a few articles of clothing and stuffed them into her suitcase. Of course Liz wanted to just nod her head and give her baby brother all of the reassurance he needed; she wanted to be able to tell him that this wouldn't be the last time they'd see each other. Instead, she gave him a long hug and several kisses before telling him to head to bed. Elizabeth simply didn't have the heart to tell him, or any other of her family members, that she was itching to get away. She couldn't bear to think of how they'd react if she told them that she was already contemplating what it would be like to live the rest of her life outside of Marrowbone. Elizabeth was suddenly shaken out of her daydream when Joseph approached each of the teens, laying hands on each of them before letting Levi take over. It was in that moment that Liz began to pay close attention to what was being said. When she was handed a brown paper bag, she simply took a quick peek at the items inside before waiting for Levi to continue. Soon, the group of teenagers were boarding their bus, and Elizabeth made sure to sit as close to Eli and Eddy as possible. She ended up snagging the seat directly behind Eddy; unfortunately, she was stuck sitting next to Willa Huyard. Liz always thought that Willa was a nice girl, but the way she always tried to do things the way Liz did them had slowly begun to irritate the young woman as time went on. It was almost like she idolized her or something. The journey to New York City seemed to be a long one thanks to all of the pit stops the bus had to make on the way, but Elizabeth was wide awake throughout the entire trip. Her eyes lit up as soon as the bus crossed state lines, and her heartbeat quickened once they'd arrived in New York City. "Look!" The young woman said in a hushed tone a she tapped her two closest friends on their shoulders and pointed out of the window, "There are so many people! So many lights and tall buildings!" The woman nearly pressed her face against the glass window as she spoke, trying to take in as much of her surroundings as she could. This was where she was going to live for the next few years. This was her new home. As soon as the bus finally arrived at the station and the teenagers took their first steps onto New York grounds, a woman wearing a beautiful fur coat quickly approached them. Elizabeth took in the woman's entire ensemble as she introduced herself as Tommy's girlfriend, and the girl couldn't help but immediately feel out of place in her bonnet, plain dress, and Winter coat. She snapped out of this quickly, however, when Ashley began ushering them off into a passenger van. Soon they arrived at their destination, and a smile found its way upon Elizabeth's face once more as she stepped foot into where she'd be living for the time being. That smile faded, however, when the group was informed that there were only six rooms and that they would be separated by gender. She couldn't help but frown in Eddy and Eli's direction as she took her own coat off and began up the stairs, following close behind Mercy. Elizabeth was standing outside of one of the rooms when she came to a sudden realization: Since there were three rooms and five girls, there was a strong chance that Willa would want to be her roommate. Without another thought, Liz approached none other than Adelinde Miller, tapping her gently on the shoulder so she'd turn to face her. "Hey Ade, you mind if we bunk together since there are only three rooms? I'll even take the couch if you don't want to share a bed."
